Quite a sick pregnancy....

Is it common for cockers to be sick right through their pregnancy? My cocker has been sick pretty much several times a day. She is 7 1/2 weeks pregnant. It is a mixture of frothy vomit ~ which I know is fairly common ~ but she is also bringing up her food on times as well. This happens both day and evening. She has been a little off her food for some time, but is absolutely fine in herself, still a happy busy little bee.
I am giving her 3 - 4 small meals a day, which she isn't interested in ~ she is also having a poached egg here and there as well, (Which she gupls down ~ and I think she brings back up later on). She is on puppy food now as my breeder told me it is easier for her to digest.
She went to the vet a couple of weeks ago to confirm pregnancy ~ and the vet complimented me on her. She said she was a truly beautiful dog and was in fabulous glossy condition... and that she would love one of her puppies herslef! So perhaps I'm worrying about nothing 

(BTW ~ both sire and dam have been eye tested, and we are not entering into having a litter casually! This is a very well planned and organised littler! I think I have read every relevant book in creation! We have nine wonderfull homes lined up, so I do hope she doesn't have more than that. We are also going to keep one ourselves.)

Sorry to hear she isnt feeling great  , all the bitches ive loked after that have been expecting havent been sick like this, have you spoken to the vet as it would concern me she wasnt keeping her food down Hope you get to the route cause and she is feeling more herself

would worry me to did you mention it to the vet?  Bonnie is due in a few weeks time (weims not cockers) and she has been a piglet pretty much from day one she certainly hasn't refused any food or thrown up.

Ayla normally has a little frothly fluid first thing in the morning if she's missed her evening meal or if I'm a little late with their morning feed.  Couple of biscuits usually helps.

I meant to say that in the 1st few weeks ive seen the dogs being sick but there appitite really increases the further on in their pregnancy and are really greedy

Hiya Lucy was sick all the way through, but only frothy bile, and very sick just before she gave birth, but her appetite increased fourfold! She didnt however bring up her meals. Pop to the vets just to put your mind at rest

The vet deduced that she was pregnant by feeling her stomach at around 5 weeks gestation, she said she could feel water ~ so she was certain that she was pregnant. Her stomach has grown as have her nipples etc, but her stomach isn't huge.... she has just gone slightly 'barrell shaped' . How large would you expect a cocker at 7 weeks gestation to be?

Depends, but I know that some of the dogs ive seen havent ballooned till the last couple of weeks. Hope everything goes well  , your braver than me id be worried sick

Hi, Lucy's nipples were very pink and large at seven weeks but she barrelled at the side by 8 weeks and at 9 weeks she was quite big, but her tummy didnt drag the floor or anything like that it was all on the sides, quite funny to like at, but so lovely to feel as you could feel the pups moving, it made me feel like the Mum   Wishing her love and hope all goes well

My Bella was sick daily through her pregnancy and she hardly ate for the entire 9 weeks.

Bella's belly had grown 6.1/2" by the time she was 7 weeks pregnant, she went on to have 7 pups.

Have you tried listening with a stethoscope....for your own pleasure only. I did it with both Buttons pregnancies and found it fascinating picking up the heartbeats, like little underwater trains. It takes a bit of patience to be able to learn how to do it but once you know where to find them and what to listen to it's reassuring that there is actually something in there. I could even hear them moving around in the fluid and also little gurgling/squealy sounds 
I also found it useful when she was whelping as I could pick up the heartbeat to see if there where any puppies left to be delivered.

One of my border collie girls got sickness and 'dire-rear' when she was in whelp, from about 6 weeks onwards she ate nothing but cooked chicken and rice, I took her to the vets and he said she was fine, she whelped 7 pups and was eating normally within a week.  Sometimes it can just be hormonal changes that affects things.

Well, BonBon has been absolutely fine since my last post! SHe is eating nicely, although not excessively ~ but hasn't been sick for a while which is good news!

She is due this Friday and looking like a little barrell now 
SHe usually goes everywhere with me ~ but she is unable to climb into the rangerover anymore, and I'm affraid to lift her, so she's a bit miffed about that. She can't get up on the couch or even climb down the stairs at the moment ~ so a baby gate has been set up, (Which she isn't too happy about either) 

Poor BonBon ~ she'll be glad to get back to normal I think
