The Muppeteers are doing me proud
« on: May 14, 2008, 12:53:00 PM »
I'm really proud of my two at the moment - we've been working on both the Muppeteers with various things, with Bella just continuing working with her fear aggression with other dogs (through T Touch), and with Zorro (through T Touch and just being much calmer with him ourselves) working on trying to get him to calm down and be able to focus a bit more, and to be more confident generally (esp around strangers). He's a flighty thing and gets himself in a tizzy really easily which can make training quite hard, as he's so anxious about pleasing you he goes almost into panic mode and then can't process what you're asking him to do.

Last night was their agility class and Zorro's only been going for about 6 months and up until last week was still very worried about the dogwalk, seesaw and collapsible tunnel. Well last night he was fantastic, went over/through all of them really confidently and clearly loved every minute and I could actually SEE him thinking  :D, he was getting lots of eye contact with me and generally being very attentive to me which is such an improvement for him. He's also been saying hello to strangers for the last week or so whereas before he was very wary and would generally back off barking at them if they made eye contact. Over the weekend we were outside a garden centre and 3 different people (including a small boy) all approached him and he was brilliant, just nice and waggly.  :luv:

Then this morning Bella, who is steadily improving with other dogs although she still has her off days, said hello really nicely to a little JRT she'd never met before, and then actually playbowed and woowoowoo'd to Elkie the Rottie (who is normally kept onlead but was gambolling around this morning). 6 months ago Bella couldn't bear any dogs approaching her and just snapped at all and sundry and she's so much better now, it's lovely. :luv:

So well done Bella and Zorro!  :D

Claire that's wonderful, you must be so proud of them.

It really sounds as if all of the hard work you've been putting in to their agility, training and T Touch are really paying off.

Bella and Zorro are both a beautiful pair and sounds like Zorro has been hiding his intelligence and tricking you all along  :005: That's brilliant! ....... :luv:

Well Done all of you!  :D
