Hi Folks
« on: May 17, 2008, 12:02:05 AM »
Hi there,
I thought I should come on and introduce myself since some of you have been good enough to give me some really helpful advice.
My name is Liz and I live in Stevenston, North Ayrshire. In Febuary we adopted our Cocker, Floopy, from a SSPCA center. We had originally gone in to see a Siberian Huskie, but spotted the little guy and fell in love with him on the spot. He is the most charming, loving, cheeky wee guy you could ever come across. He does have a few small behaviour problems, but nothing serious or messy ;).
He forgets that he is actually a dog and will come up and sit on my knee and throw himself backwards so that he's sitting upright, just like a person, he's most commonly found lying flat on his back with four paws in the air on the sofa fast asleep. Floopy and our cat have formed a very, very shakey truce, basically as long as the cat stays outside then war doesnt breakout in the house. We have to smuggle the cat indoors at night. :005:. But all in all he's a great dog to have around, we are very lucky to have found him. I look forward to posting on here and will let you all know what progress Floopy is making with his training.

All the Best
Liz

Hi Nicola,
He was already called Floop when we resued him, we did toy with the idea of changing it but decided against it. Now its really funny when he does his Harry Houdini act and my hubby has to go out and shout on him. A big macho man calling "Floopy" late at night is highly amusing :005:
As for pics, he refuses to face the camera, everytime we point one at him he hides his face. I think he's pretending he's shy. :D

We are taking him on his first caravan holiday in 2 week so we will probably try and get some pics then. Its going to be a riot coz its only a tiny caravan and he's a funky munkey when he starts so it might just be pics of a wrecked van and no dog. :005:

Hello there, I am Smudgies mum and I also have a Border Collie called Suzie, hope you enjoy your hols.

Agree with other posters - lovely name :luv:, try holding a treat above the camera to get a face on piccy, mind you - you may get a picture of his belly as he tries to snatch the treat :005: you may find it easier once you have taught him sit and stay??

Best wishes

Thank you for all the lovely welcomes, as soon as we can get him to pose I will defo post some pics. He's a tricky one though. The only pic I've managed to get is on my phone and the only reason I got it was because he was fast asleep and cuddling his "Daddy" when I went up to bed. If I manage to transfer it to the laptop I'll get it posted. I look forward to chatting to you all and learning as I go. Floopy is the first full Cocker I've owned, my last dog was a Cocker/Collie cross, and the first dog we've had as a family, so its a big learning curve for us all. Thanks again for the welcome.
