My three don't mind the water as in they will paddle, but they will not swim unless they have to.  ::)

Charley will paddle in the water but will not get out of his depth.  If his feet don't touch the bottom then he is out.  My last Golden Cocker was exactly the same.  However, my Black Cocker just loved the water, and he terrified me as he would happily swim out in the sea without a care in the World.

as a puppy mine wasn't bothered with water, and we didn't push him into swimming..

He's nearly 3, and we can't keep him out now  ph34r

Don't worry about it, she is only very young, and will probably find the joy of water in her own time  :luv:

:D Kasper hasn't discovered water yet, we walk by the river most days and I have been waiting for the (what I was told when he was a pup) the inevitable but it has not happend. He doesn't even like to get his feet wet. However I was surprised when we went to the beach as he was wading around in the sea (not swimming) but definitely wet.
He is however partial to mud and likes to drink horrible stagnant water out of puddles >:( (before I can cathch him), I can't really moan though, in comparison to others I am getting off lightly (for now anyway) :005:.

Misty and Stevie were the same as Jarv, whereas Jimmy was in the water on his first walk ( albeit accidentally when he got backed into a canal :lol2: ). Misty was a terrible swimmer at first, she'd go backwards and then start to sink - I had to wade in and fish her out a few times.  ph34r Stevie was about 18 months old before venturing in - so there's still hope yet.

barkley didn't swim for the first time until he was about 8 months old. he then gradually got more and more confident and now loves swimming in lakes and rivers but will not go into the sea yet. we've let him figure it out completely in his own time. :)

Ellie does not like water, whether it is coming down from the sky or already on the ground.  The nearest she gets to it is walking through shallow puddles and she is not keen on that.  We have just been on holiday and she had to walk through some shallow water on the beach, mean Mummy didn't carry her.  I had to go back and rescue her though as she froze half way across.

My last cocker Sophie was even worse.  She delicately made her way around every puddle.

I have a water spaniel who doesn't like water! How embarrassing is that?  He will retrieve from water with bad grace,  although when he decides to enter he throws himself in with an almighty splash - not like his dad who slithers into water like an otter,  and would swim all day.

Bertie my red (show) cocker is a fearless swimmer,  but it took him several times at the seaside to learn to ride over and through the waves.  Here he is in the Gower last week.

Romeo hated water when we first adopted him, he wouldn't paddle and would avoid puddles like the plague.  He eventually started following us in if we went paddling and gradually got more and more obsessed with the stuff.. Now the problem is actually keeping him out. We have just spent the afternoon on Formby beach with Romeo swimming in the sea so have a very tired but happy dog!

Charlie didn't like water and we never forced the issue as you can then make them scared of it. Now we've got Millie he follows her in, he had his first swim last week at the grand old age of two!

My Indi (blue) loves (understatement) the water went in first when she was around 9 months and since then is a pain in the ***** and will not get out as others have said would swim all day I can only try for one water retrieve if we go again then she wont come out. She just throws herself in a perfect racing dive, at easter we took them out in the canoe, the noise was loud   >:(  :lol2: two howling cocker's people must have thought we were making them get in but the noise was let me out of the rig into the water :005: she swam behind the canoe tail swishing from side to side with almost a grin on her face, he loves it also but not the way she does. In summer she throws herself in the deep end of the pool and just swims up and down smiling but the pool water gives her the itches so that wont be happening again this summer. But she hates the bath big time and has given me two black eyes, at different times looks really good I'm sure people don't believe me what that little angel she loves the water >:D

Roml hates the water and I have tried leaving him on a surf board but he still hates it. The last time I dragged him into the pool in the back yard he actually sunk right in front of me so I will wait until he is a little older to try again. I want to spirit him off on a sail boat for next year so he will have to learn quick smart.

He is a source of constant dissappointment to me and my proud swimming traditions. Its just one let down after another.

Just kidding.

Here is a pic of him being pursueded into the water.

Pippa is contrary Mary! She likes the sea, will paddle along happily, as long as her back feet are on the bottom! She had her first paddle and drink in the river yesterday, we walk along the bank all the time but I haven't encouraged her until now as it was a bit smelly, it's OK now we've had rain.
Not keen on baths, refuses to go out for wee if the ground is wet!  ph34r Not keen on walking in the rain, gives me dirty looks as if to say "Do you know how wet I'm getting?" and balances on the kerb so as not to walk in the wet grass! Once out for a walk doesn't mind long wet grass or puddles.
So I'd say on the whole - NOT!  :005:
