Jack Poorly

Hi,

Jack has had runny poo for a little while then yesterday it had blood in it, i panicked and took him to the emergency vet, his temp was up a bit so he gave him an antibiotic injection, some rehydration salts and royal canin sensitive food.

The vet thinks it is something he has eaten we have to start introducing things again gradually to make sure he is not intolerant to anything, he was on jwb but he doesnt really enjoy it and i dont think his poo has been right since he was on it, he has tried every other dry food going and wont eat it although he seems to be enjoying the royal canin.

He has had two more runny poos today, one had a tiny bit of blood in but i suppose it's to early to expect things to improve just yet, I really hope he does a solid one soon.

After what happened to Honey we are just so scared when he is ill.
 
I need to stop worrying cause ill make myself ill soon  :'(

You could try alittle cooked white fish and rice or chicken and rice for a couple of days,as it will be gentle on the tummy,then introduce the kibble slowly. :blink:
Try not to worry about the blood it seems to happen when they have a poorly tummy  :-\
My Rosie had severe diawotsits about a month ago, and she was only passing blood it frightened me  :'( but with fish and rice and some meds from the vet she is all better :luv:
Hoping jack is better soon and looking forward to the solid poo update  :blink:

I think Brackens suggestion of rice and fish or chicken is a good idea.  It will settle his belly so he's not uncomfortable from having a belly ache.

Thanks everyone, Jack has done a solid poo this morning yeeaaahhh  :D

oh bless him :luv:. my ruby had the same problem last week,and she was on jwb.she is on tabs from the vets,and things looking better now.she is still eating chicken & rice,in the next day or 2 i will gradually change her to AG ..Hope Jack is feeling better soon.

I could cry, we have just been for a walk and Jack must have gone for a poo about 7 times, it started solid then by the end was runny with blood in it again.

All he has had since Sunday morning is the food from the vet, I don't know what to do now.

He is full of beans but I think I should ring the vet again in the morning or am I over-reacting?

Yes I would speak to the vet tomorrow.
I would not give any breakfast, then try just alittle cooked white fish for dinner, the next add cooked rice to the fish. Increase the portions slowly.
Hopefully the vet will give you some Pro-Kolin paste and antibiotics.
Its such a worry when they are poorly. How old is Jack?
No you are not over-reacting  :luv: I was really upset and worried when Rosie was poorly

Thank you, Jack is nearly 9 months.

I will ring the vet first thing, I wont give him anything else to eat until I have spoken to him.

I am having a glass of wine now, Im so worried.

I would at least take a poo sample, if not Jack, to the vet tomorrow to have it tested for unwelcome guests like worms or giardia.

Hello,

Jack has done another solid poo this morning with no blood, I went and got him some white fish and rice and then rang the vet.

He said it is a good sign that he has not got the runs constantly and to just feed him a little bit of fish at lunch time and gradually build it up. As long as there is no change in him physically then there is no need to take him in unless the poo gets worse of course, he said not to expect him to stay firm straight away as it might take a few days to clear up completely
