Eric's loosing the crown jewels
« on: July 13, 2008, 06:32:32 PM »
I've not been on here much lately because Eric has been running rings round me.
Over the last month he has become really aggressive towards men if they approach me and has even nipped his Dad on the nose. I have been working really hard clicker training him for 3 weeks now and it seems to be having a positive effect, when the OH is approaching me I click and Eric's bum hits the deck and there is rarely any incident now but I have decided it is time for the danglies to come off to reinforce the training I have been giving him.
So tomorrow is the big day for the little fella and I am feeling very guilty right now.

Yep, just read that back and must confirm that it is Eric that is loosing his dangly bits and not the OH  :005: :005:

I meant, the girl means what she says, and you (OH) may suffer the same fate!

Good luck Eric for the op  ;)  Don't expect miracles from him, neutering doesn't IMO guarantee a solution for behavioural issues - consistency through the teenage months will play the biggest part.

They say it takes up to six months to see the effects of the neutering so you'll have a double whammy of neutering and maturing and growing up as he naturally would, with or without jewels.  ;)

Hope Eric's home and feeling better, he might be a bit groggy but I'm sure you'll be posting a request for 'how to keep him calm' by the end of the week!

Eric's op went fine and I got him back home yesterday at 3pm but oh my what a nearly 24 hours we've had with him.
Last night was terrible and i ended up giving up on sleep and curling up on the sofa watching tv with him on my lap whimpering and drifting in and out of sleep.
He will not leave his wound alone at any costs and is now having to wear his buster collar at all times. He really can not get the hang of the bloomin thing and has spent all his time following me and barging it into my carves and shins. He also is getting it caught on doors, steps, the sofa, well everything really. Any one got any suggestions about alternatives to a buster collar?
I feel really guilty at the moment about putting him through this  :'( To try and make up for it a bit I have taken the week off sick to look after him  ph34r
