I have decided to take the plunge earlier than I had planned and decided to enter Alfie into his first limited show.  ph34r

All 16 of the classes are AV, I was planning on entering him into the minor puppy class (he is just 7 months old) but there is also an AV Beginners class, would he be eligible for that class also him being a pup.

He is doing a lot better now at ringcraft, its me holding him back I think.  :005:

Any tips would be gratefully received.  :D

I think he would be eligible but would be up against older dogs as it is a class
for owners or dogs who have not won a first prize at an show - as far as I know ph34r

I hope you enjoy the show whatever you enter. :D

minor puppy -for dogs of 6 months & not exceeding 9 calender months of age on the 1st day of the show.

puppy- for dogs of 6 months,& not exceeding 12 calendar months of age on the 1st day of the show.

junior - for dogs of 6 and not exceeding 18 calendar months of age of the 1st day of the show.

yearling - for dogs 0f 12 & not exceeding 24 months of age on the 1st day of the show.

maiden -for dogs which have not won a challenge certificate or a 1st prize at an open or chamionship show ( minor puppy, special puppy classes excepted wheather restricted or not)

novice - for dogs which have not won a challenge certificate or 3 or more 1st prizes at open and chamionship shows ( minor puppy, special minor, puppy, puppy and special puppy classes excepted whether restricted or not )

and it goes on, graduate, post graduate, limit, open and veteran. ( which won't apply to alfie just yet  :005:)

good on you patsy for taking the plunge  :D, av means "any variety", so you would be up aganist all breeds of dog.

Thanks  ;) yes that makes sense, I dont think it would be sensible to put him in with older dogs would it. Minor puppy it is then. Part of me is looking forward to it and the other is petrified.  ph34r :005:

Cheers Terri  :shades: A guy at ringcraft has talked me into this  ph34r he has the most beautiful curly coated retrievers  :luv: it was him who has managed to get Alfie to stand after all my weeks of struggling.  ::) :005: I know Alfie will be ok, it is me.  :lol2:

I bet you I end up looking like that Lou Shepherd character on The Catherine Tate show were the dog does nothing she says.  :lol2:

Patsy, just try to enjoy yourself :D I haven't been to a Limit show for ages (we don't get so many now) but when we did, they were lots of fun. No pressure like the bigger shows & people used to enter lots of classes just for practice so if you want to enter another class just to help build your confidence, then do - there'll be other people doing the same thing with their new pups :D
