Hi Guys

Have any of you ever messed up when showing one of your dogs  :huh: :huh:

Yesterday we had The Guernsey Kennel Club Autumn Open Show and it was Oliver's last puppy show as he misses the one in October by 2 days  >:( >:(  Well we did really well and won the Gundog Group so were through to the end of day to challenge for Best Puppy in Show.

Well we started off OK went into the big ring and Oliver went lovely.  The judge went over him perfect and then I think I lost it ... he was messing around, jumping up, he then settled and I thought we'd cracked it but then he started to waddle and wasn't in his stride properly.  We were the first and so I had to wait for everybody else to go and their dogs all went really well.  So there's me waiting and thinking that we were going to be 7th BPIS but to my delight we were 4th ... which was better than I thought and the lovely Gundog Judge came over and said that we did well.

So am I the only plank that has messed up like this or not ??

I hope not.

Oh many times. E.g once I drove to the show only to realize I had the wrong dogs in my car  :o. Luckily it was a local show and I had enough time to go back home and change  :005:

If getting 4th BPIS is messing up, you ought to do it more often!  ;)

I usually mess up after doing well in a class and then I become all fingers and thumbs.  ::)

I remeber my fist open show, I was so nervous that when everyone was asked to stand the dogs for a final look, I stacked Rosie with my back to the judge.  ph34r

I turned up to Welsh kennel club one year a day early.....went by my show diary and not the schedule :huh: ph34r luckily it was the shepherd day and a few of my friends were there so stayed in the back o one of their caravans.....I'm in Essex btw so not exactly local......went by the schedules thereafter ph34r

it must of been my 3rd show i was really nervous,
i moved my dog but when it came to standing her at the end, i bent over to stack her but didn't realise the judge wanted to go over her agian,
 so we both bent over at the same time resulting in me head butting the judge,
 needless to say i didnt get placed, i was so embarrassed. :embarassed:
so far thats been the worse thing, hey hope it does'nt get worse than that :005:

Hi Guys

Thanks for your replies and confessing to messing up in the Show ring - I guess coming 4th Best Puppy in Show wasn't really that bad and as I said it could of been worse we could of been 7th.

My first time at Crufts though I had my back to the judge when he came up to go over Douglas - I blamed it on my Mum as she was there with me and I was asking her advice even though she had never been to a show before and I'd done quite a few !!!! 

As for banging heads with the judge I must remember that one Dawn  :005: :005:

Not really proper showing, but i turned up today at a companion dog show which isn't on 'til tomorrow. :embarassed: ph34r  :lol2:
