Has anyone used the FURminator?
« on: September 27, 2008, 10:48:24 AM »
I saw this yesterday on QVC and thought it looked a good alternative to a coat king, I just wondered if anyone had used one and or what your opinions are of it, considering getting one for Indie as her shedding is awful.

HOLD FIRE, I THINK THERE MAY BE TWO PRODUCTS BY THE SAME NAME, WILL CHECK. MINE HAS TWO SIDES AND WAS ON QVC UK BUT IT'S NOT THE ONE ON THE FURMINATOR SITE.

I have this, I got it at the ideal home show after seeing it on QVC but there it was just £15.
It does work effectivly and I should think that if you used it often it'd stop sheding all over the house but I only use it occassionally.
Wherry loves it, makes her go all floopy  :luv: However it obviously only takes out loose hair so it stops shedding everywhere but with Wherry she still has lots of whispy bits left over so still needs stripping/clipping. I din't have the same effect as on the telly but then I suppose it depends on the dog's coat.
In all I wouldn't spend the QVC price (though at least then you can test it out) for the results we get with Wherry (worker so shorter coat) but for £15 i'm not dissapointed.
I think they have a website, I know I had a re-order form for the £15 price but goodness knows where. They are a scottish company I think.

Also, the police (one area, not everyone) use them for their working dogs and they pay about £13 a piece so they must be ok  ;)
(Yes, we had a long chat  :005: )

oh it does say if you read the FAQ's  - it has a fine toothed precison 'deShedding' edge which can be resharpened (and I assume must be like a mini-saw blade)

Ah... so similar to a coat king then. I looked at a few pages but not the faqs thanks Helen.
Having waded through sand dunes again this morning just to get a cupatea.... the all over Wahl No.1 is slowly seducing me further.... am SO bored with hovering every day and crunching around the house!!!!!!! Just don't live in a cocker coat friendly area and Dave wants to look like Normy anyway

Go for it Hannah, 'specially for those months with a new baby the Normy look is soooooo practical. :D

my local petshop are selling them FURminator - the ultimate grooming tool! They do different sizes, and the medium one is £30. Not sure if its the one this thread is about! The woman said she uses one on her labridor, and it is great!  :D :D
