how often should I bath chloe?

I'm sure this will have been covered before, but couldn't find any links.

All of Chloe's walks, apart from her last little jaunt before bedtime, are dirty walks through poo saturated croftland and boggy moors. She's always filthy when she comes home but I just tend to dry her off. I brush her every day and my vet has said not to bathe her any more than necessary as it can affect their natural oils in their coat.  Chloe is a fiarly smooth haired working type..not much feathering apart from a little around her legs.  What do folk think?

Honey has never had a bath... 
We dry her off with a towel to remove the worst of the mud and, if she is very muddy, she'll get rinsed off with the hosepipe, but that's it.  Beyond that we brush her regularly, so any "mud" soon gets brushed out....

I hose my two down in the garden with cold water nearly every day in the autumn/winter months - they get filthy, and their coats are too thick for it to be easily brushed out    I use a hose attachment on the spray-setting so it gets them nice and clean. Every three or four months they either have a shampoo outside, or if it is really cold, them come inside for a warm shower 

I've not had any problems with their coats - they are always shiny and smooth (Bonnee has been spayed, so she is a bit fluffy  )

barkley is 3 at christmas and has never been shampooed. he also gets hosed off when he's muddy but that's it. he's rolled in some pretty smelly stuff in his time but a good hosing off always seems to get rid of the worst of it- he is a worker with a finer coat though which probably helps!

Millie is 7 months and has probably had a bath every six weeks or so, she loves muddy puddles and clay like mud and as she's in her furball stage, no amount of brushing seems to get it out properly and after a while she tends to get a bit kiffy!  When we know she's probably due a bath, we always take her for a good walk in her most favourite places so she can get caked to her hearts content and we know she's had a great time! (To be fair though, she's really good when having a bath), though in the meantime its PAH puppy fresh or a quick sit in a warm bucket of water after a walk!!

I bath mine about every 3 months  but really does depend on the time of year. Winter and all the mud etc it is generally more often, or I may just rinse really muddy paws with warm water 

Mine all love the shower, we have a large cubicle so I do tend to get in with them( I keep my clother on ,normally shorts for this job ) and shut the door its less mess

Read in a book by Frank Kane (cocker spaniel breeder and crufts commentator), that he bathed his house dogs every week as the dog shampoos on the market are very good and dogs are unlikely to lose coat condition. 

Personally, mine have to be really dirt to warrant a bath usually if they've rolled in a cow pat as the smell is too much to bear.  If its just mud then I brush it out when its dry.

Alfie is bathed every week too. I do use very good products on him though to retain oils etc. His coat is lovely  well I think so

Warm feet wash every day.  More general wash when muddy, say once/twice month and full bath when covered in fox/horse/cow poo.  Good shampoo and proper rinse seems to work well. No problems so far.

Mali gets a bath most weeks - well a shower in my bathroom - because she just gets so filthy 

during the summer she probably had just one or two a month as a brush did seem to do the trick.

i've heard that the best thing to do is to bathe them about once a month. supposedly, this helps to keep their coat and their skin from drying out. ulysses loves to dirty himself up, so going a month without a bath is tough. we bathed him daily when we were going to the beach to get the salt off of him and to condition his coat. we live in a city, and between the city dirt, the iron dust in our studio and romps through the park, he gets dirty fast. we don't have a tub or a shower door, so we always have to be in a team of two to wash him properly. it's a good shampoo and then a conditioner. we're probably averaging baths about once every 3 weeks...more than that and he stinks!

What ones do you use Shadow gets bath every 6 weeks at groomers but like now he a bit wiffy and i would like to use good stuff for him

Iv not really bathed Reuben for a while, i did at the start as he always seemed to smell of wee when he was piddling everywhere - but now (like yesterday) i just rinse his muddy bits underneath when its really bad.  And i dont think he smells bad at all, even when hes been out when its raining. I do love it when hes had one and smells like a nice new teddy that has just come out of the washing machine!
