Simple Advice

Have the paperwork at hand to change the Ownership from the breeder to my goodladys name and plan to do it the simple way on line.

Managed to get so far but then asks if your dog has been chipped.....at this moment no but plan is to do this as  soon as the vet will start her main inoculations ...she still has the wee girly infection and he would rather we spend another week just to completely clear this up before starting them.

Can I add her serial number for the chip at a later date to her paperwork or would I just be better to hold off till all inoculations and chipping completed?

Also on the back for payment details what is exactly the 5 Generation pedigree plus breed records supplement ....for my £35 is it worth it! Anyone have a photo to show

I think to avoid having to pay an extra fee to change the dog details with the KC, I would hold off changing her ownership until you've got her chipped. (As her microchip number will be printed on the owner registration certificate that the KC send you, so it'll avoid it having to be printed out again).

The 5 generation pedigree comes in 2 different sizes. The smaller one is green and is A4 size, the larger one is A3 sized and comes printed on beige card. (both sizes contain the same information). The five generation pedigree is useful to have if you're keen knowing the breeding behind your pup and want to research it, or if you intend to breed from your dog in the future (always contact your breeder to discuss this if it's something you're planning on doing as they will be the most informed about your pups suitability).
I personally like to have the 5 generation pedigree, although the A3 size isn't necessary in my opinion.

The breeds record supplement is only really of use if you want to see how many other litters have been bred/sired by different dogs in the UK for this year, and also which dogs have been tested under the KC health schemes, it includes their results.

I personally like to have the 5 generation pedigree, although the A3 size isn't necessary in my opinion.


And a bit of a pain if you want to copy it for any reason

I like the A3 version but I'm sad and all three are framed on the wall AND if I ever get the office/dog room built, they'll be in there with the rosettes.

I likes the breed supplement to have as a record of the litters birth, who else was in the litter, their colours etc, BUT the one you will be sent if opted for, is the one recording transfer to your name, if it crosses over the quarter (like Heidi's does) you might not have the litter registration in the same book.  Basically you are only really interested in a few lines (maybe one line) out of the book which also records every other litter regiswtered at teh time and other dogs transfered.

Would not say that at all - I also have the A3 - but that is because the writing is so small on the A4 version, at least I can read the big'uns, specsavers here I come

Anyone have any idea just how long it takes for the A3 version to be printed and posted out ?

I recently registered Ruby on line to change her ownership over. It doesn't take that long, but you get the paperwork through and then the certificate separately

*jen* the A 3 version was waiting in the hallway tonight on my return from work .....but there is a problem ...it's slightly damaged as in not completely flat so who will compensate the post office or the Kennel Club !It does say in huge letters across the envelope DO NOT BEND .....will call the Kennel club in the morning ..

The same thing happened with Misty's certificate, they aren't packaged very well imo - I rang the KC and they sent a replacement.

Stand your ground, they tried to blame the PO when I rang but I said it was their job to sort it out, not mine - they quickly gave in as it was probably easier to just print off another copy than argue with the PO.

The envelope that Ruby's certificate came in was bent and tatty (if the post man hadn't have rung the bell to deliver it I would have thought that Ruby had have had hold of it!!!!). The actual certificate inside was alright. I would guess its the post office at fault. Wait and see what happens with the replacement.
