Naked cocker

Does anyone else have a dog that point blank refuses to have any article of clothing put on them?  Are there any tips as to how to get a coat/fleece onto an unsuspecting doggy? 

Been looking at photos that people have posted with their dogs wearing various outfits and I'm sooooo jealous    . I'm so sure Daisy would look lovely in a little somethink knitted  , but she's having none of it

Maybe she is just happy as she is? I would not force it unless for warmth or health reasons, otherwise you may find she resists it all the more. I could not see Action Man Smudge putting up with a coat, or Katie for that matter.

Henry puts up a little resistance when he's had a bath and I put his dressing gown on him cause he hates to be towel dried  but once it's on he's as happy as larry in it.  Katie is a dolly and would be the sort you could dress up all day long

Mine only have clothing on if absoluely necessary and not becuase of it looks good --- yesterday Wilf reluctantly wore a dog coat but had just bathed him and he was off to hydrotherapy and it was a bit of a hike onlead and on and off buses (plus I know he does get cold). Other times mine wear fluorescent gear if am walking in bad weather and on around windy pavementless country roads.

Dennis wore his coat today for the first time and I swear he sulked for the whole time we were out!! He didn't wag his tail and looked so miserable but he must have been much warmer as it's freezing at the moment -  I did feel bad though

I will send our Ellie to have a word with them.  She loves her equafleece and pushes her head through it happily and then lifts her paws up to have the sleeves pulled on.

Oh I hope you don't think I've been trying to force her into something wooly?!  I wouldn't try and force Daisy to do anything, it's a relationship of cooperation, I've learnt that it's pointless trying to persuade her to do anything against will (which is very strong  ).  It's just I'm so jealous of other people's dogs who are happy to be dressed up, e.g. Baby B's dogs sound like hours of fun, I'd die and go to heaven if I could get Daisy into a dressing gown

Same here.  Flourescent vests if in the above type circumstances.  A waxed fleece jacket in really extreme circumstances; it's been cold but not cold and wet so not needed yet.  Senior dog has a "dressing gown" Country Mun gundog towelling rug which she wears when I go to walk with one of my friends - this is because "madam" likes to swim, whatever the weather and I like a cuppa when we've done these hikes.  She sits in her Lintran box on her vet bed with her towelling rug on for 40 mins and when I come out she is warm as toast and drying off nicely (without it I wouldn't a) let her swim, b)leave her in the car for 40 mins or c) get that cuppa I need.  Baby dog will get one when she is old enough to go on big dog walks and get swimming with collies until then she comes in for a cuppa with me!!

Ruby had a tantrum when i put her equafleece on for the first time today,she zoomed around shrieking and barking,then tried to bite it,i do hope it was mainly excitement at going out as shes been in for 2 days resting a paw.
At £28,she WILL learn to love it

Misha loves having her equafleece on - it means she's going for a walk.  Soon as you pick it up she's trying to shove her head into it.  Roly on the other hand is a little reluctant, and will only do it if he really must.  Generally I have a treat in my hand which is through the head hold of jumper and as soon as he goes for the treat then I pull jumper over his head.  He's fine after that.  Jumper is a size too big for him, but it means that its easy to put on.  Have to admit I've had years of practice putting halters on horses that don't want to be caught, so Roly is quite easy.

Not a hope of getting coats or fluorescent bib on Bobby.  He loathed having a harness put on as well. Anyway, he's so hairy he can't feel the cold and rain doesn't penetrate far.

Got two girls here who just love their warm coats, after all it means walkies. Holly (she was one of the 4 Ms from M.T.)being an ex puppy farm girl, she is always the first in line for her's to go on, just guess she remembers the many cold days and nights before Sylvia saved her, anyway there is no way would you get them out the door with out being kitted out spoiled rotten

Jarv wears his fleece after a walk/swim - he's certainly an 'action-man' but does shiver when he slows down and is in the car or back at home.  Now when I get his hotter dog fleece out he pushes his head through the polo neck bit and is very happy to snuggle in it.   I think the tighter fleeces are quite soothing if you look at the t-touch philosophies.

He doesn't wear it on walks as he exerts enough energy to keep himself warm - even after his swim in sub zero temps yesterday.
