Biting between her back legs
« on: January 26, 2009, 05:00:42 PM »
Am looking for a bit of advice I took megan to be groomed 10 days ago. Since she has come back she has been biting between her back legs. I worried that if she carries on she will make it sore. We are distracting her when she starts doing it. But she doesn't seem to be giving up. Anyone experienced this and have any advice, would be much appreciated.

No I haven't I'm afraid. Have you checked the skin to see if it is sore.

She may have a bit of clipper burn if they did her privates with a clipper, or they may not have rinsed the shampoo out thoroughly. If it's clipper burn, you can put some first aid creme or something for diaper rash (cortisone in it is ok), or aloe vera gel. If it's the shampoo you can give her another bath with some kind of skin soothing shampoo and rinse, rinse, rinse  ;)

It could very well be the shampoo then as spanielcrazy has suggested.

I tend to agree too.  Sometimes groomers use a shine spray that can make them itch.

I've no idea (I was thinking along stinning nettles lines until I read your Q) but it sound like it's really irritating for her poor wee girl. It probably wouldn't hurt to rinse her and see then if not better put on something to sooth and see then you'll eliminte both ideas for next time.

Mine have done this before when they have come back from the groomers and i guessed it was clipper burn ..i also couldn't see any redness or marks but they did bite frantically ....although it didn't carry on for 10 days...could she have gotten into a vicious circle of bitting ..making it sore so biting again etc  :-\ hope she feels better soon  ;)
