Positive thoughts from me and William  :luv:.

When I had my old boy, Josh, He was diagnosed with a heart murmur when he was about 10 and started coughing, then with heart failure when he was about 13. He had medication for both and lived until he was nearly 17 and had a good quality of life once his meds were right for him. I hope they find the right meds and right doses for Jewel very soon.

I've only just seen this thread and I've not read through it all but I just want to say that my heart goes out to you.

I lost Nelly 3 weeks ago due to an enlarged heart and I also have Dillon who was diagnosed with heart failure 4 weeks ago. He is on heart medication and diuretic tablets.

Nelly passed away very suddenly, I didn't even know she had a heart problem. She went into the animal hospital because she had become dehydrated due to a tummy upset and she passed away while she was there. The vet said they'd done a scan and she had a hugely enlarged heart  :'(

I hope Jewel can be kept comfortable for a while longer, like Dillon.

Have just seen this thread too & just wanted to send healing thoughts & {{hugs}} to Jewel (& you too!)  :luv:

Have an understanding of what you are going through Michelle, as I had to take Purdey to the vets this A.M. with, what was thought to be kennel cough but now turns out to be fluid on her lungs & possible heart problems....will find out more when we go back tomorrow!

I hope Jewels vets are doing all they can for her  :luv:.......and the same goes for Cindere's Dillon  :luv: & for Purdey too tomorrow  :luv:

but this did get me thinking today...........with all the comments and threads on the forum, related to this illness/disease/condition........ is it that it's just being diagnosed more accurately or it's just that there's quite a few doglets on the forum with dam bad luck or is it that this illness/disease/condition is going to rear it's ugly head to blight this wonderful breed, as it does in others.......was just wondering, thats all  :-\

Thanks for all your good wishes!  :luv: The meds seem to be kicking in and Jewel seems to be feeling better. Her appetite has returned and she is getting back to her fiesty old self  :luv:

This is really encouraging to hear!
