When we lost our last cocker, Sophie, I felt the same as your OH, that getting another cocker was as if we were just replacing Sophie, but my OH was adament we must get another and when we got Ellie I realised that the only thing that can go anywhere near to help to take the terrible pain away of losing a beloved pet is to let another one into your heart.  When I said that I could never love another dog as much as I loved Sophie, a friend said 'yes you can, you just love them differently', and it is so true.

When you feel ready to let another rescue cocker into your life, it will be a very lucky cocker.

Fiona I only know you from your posts about the lovely Gari.....all I can offer is that when we lost Ollie within a 24 hour period a lot like you....we had Annie after 5 days. Now many may disagree but a year on it was the best decision we ever made. Ollie sits in his lovely box and watches over her ....

I'm so sorry to read this Fiona. I went through the same with my Chewitt. He was poorly a week or so before xmas, but seem bright enough. Come Christmas day he was so poorly, kept being sick, and wasn't interested in his turkey. We took him to the vets on Boxing day, they kept him, operated straight away, and found tumours on his liver. They never woke hime up. I was gutted I never got to say goodbye.
I know so well how you are feeling right now, and nothing I can say will help. Just to let you know my thoughts are with you. Take care x x

Just read your tribute to Gari and it brought a tear to my eye and a big lump in my throat.  What wonderful words for your lost little man - he obviously meant the world to you both.
