Trembling
« on: June 19, 2009, 01:45:30 PM »
Hi guys,
Wonder if anyone has come across this in their dogs, we have noticed ever since we have had Holly that  she trembles and shakes a lot in her back legs when standing,( just as if she is scared...) I wonder if this is from her being a puppy farm dog, and the treatment she had (we all know the evil ways they are kept)  :o or where it is just in her breeding, none of my other dogs have ever done this. I often think people seeing her trembling like this must think that she frightened of us.

Holly is such a wonderful girl with a lovely nature  :luv: and just loves children and people, she makes a beeline to them all for a fuss. says a lot about a dogs forgiving nature. after the treatment they receive at the puppy farmers hands. >:D  I wish more people would take a chance with taking on a P/F baby, adopting her on is the best thing we have ever done.

It could be excitement or fear...Lola will tremble in the vets and that is definitely not excitement...she will also tremble in the car on the way to a walk and that is excitement  ;)
you need to look at the situation she is in and what is going on around her to work out which one it is

One of Gari's legs would tremble is he was leaning on a nerve, I would move it and it would stop. :luv:

But it probably is excitement with Holly, she has come from a bad place and is now in such a loving happy home, and she still can't believe all the good things that are happening to her. :luv:

My little ex-puppy farm girl Alice still trembles occasionally out of fear.  She rarely does it with us any more but if a new person comes in to the house she does tend to tremble until she has checked them out and she is very fearful of strangers in general.  She is - we have recently discovered - absolutely petrified of children and will hide in a ball under the table if any ever come to visit. I suspect that maybe the kids of the puppy farmer may have been involved in her 'care' at some stage in her life - or just that as we have none, the noise and excitement of small people is something she has not had to get used to.  The good news is that most of the time she is just like a normal dog and we forget her hideous past because she is so loopy and delighted with life!  She spends most of her days on her hind legs dancing around the kitchen in her never ending quest for food and is now a very happy little girl.  :D

Thank you all for your posts, I don't think Holly's trembling is caused with excitement because when she is excited she just runs and then spins around in circles and she is very vocal also  :lol2: she sounds like a braying hound  :005: especially when we get the leads out for walks, the decibels go though the roof :lol2: :lol2: it is wonderful to see her so excited and happy with her life now.

We only get the legs trembling when she is standing and it is then that her back legs shake so, HO thinks it may be because of her being kept in a cage for most of her life and not being able to stretch out her legs so now the muscles are weak.( just a thought)when she first came home with us
she was truly petrified of a crate but not anymore,  bedtime can't come to soon for her and Honey they both race up stairs to bed at night beating us up wooden hill  :005: I think the thought of the gravy bone treats may be the cause though :005: :005:
The only thing she is now frightened of is if there is a loud noise  like a gun shot going off then she panic's and makes for the corner of the lounge and under her chair that she felt was her place of safely when she first came to us.

She really is a super little girl and we feel very honoured and privileged to call her our Holly Bolly Burper, she can burp for england  :lol2: :lol2:
we can never thank Sylvia enough for saving her and the selfless work that she and all at MT do. they are

If she is trembling from fear then I would think with such understanding owners - things should improve for her in time.  Certainly hope so.

Honeysmum - just to echo your sentiments as regards Sylvia and Many Tears.  They are utterly, wonderfully  brilliant.
