Groomers In North East
« on: September 09, 2004, 05:19:51 PM »
Does anyone know of a good cocker groomer in the north east ? Our 9 month old puppy has had two disastrous trips to two different groomers. The first time he came back almost totally shaved off and today the second groomer hardly touched him and he is now really fluffy.
We are at our wits end and just want a reputable specialist groomer.
I've just read through a few links on grooming............does anyone have any tips on grooming the head to get the hair flat and smooth as at the moment my boy has got a perm!!!!!
We live in Gatehead near Newcastle but would be prepared to travel as it would be worth it.
Any help would be really appreciated

hi claire

sorry to hear your problems with grooming.  I live in wallsend and I have a 1 year old cocker called louis.  I have always taken louis to a place in morpeth called kindcare kennels, the lady who owns it is called sylvia bunting and she breeds cockers, the man who trims louis coat is called rob, this is the number if you are interested 01670513963.

I have decided i would like to give grooming a go myself and have bought a table and all of the equipment.  Louis went to see rob last week for his final professional trim, and now i am going to try and keep on top of it myself.

I have always been really pleased with the way rob trims louis, he has given me lots of help and good advice about grooming so i  have no hesitation in reccommending him as a groomer.

hope this is of some help, let me know how you get on.

Thanks both for advice especially that number in Morpeth. will definitely give it a go.
You wouldn't ever think it was so difficult to find a decent groomer!!!! That feeling when you go to pick your baby up and he comes round the corner half scalped is just awful ................
We comb Fergal every night with a Spratts 76 and have just ordered a coat king, so i think we'll try and do more of it ourselves.

Thanks again
