Has anyone changed from Wellbeloved to Arden Grange?

Hi Everyone.
My two puppies are still having very runny poos...... and the vet recommended that I try a change of diet for them.  They were on James Wellbeloved...and we are trying Arden Grange.
Has anyone had good experiences with this brand of dog food after experiencing similar problems???
Apart from the diarrhoea....they seem to be bounding about all over the place with no other symtoms of anything sinister.

They are both good foods, AG slightly better quality than JWB. The runny poo is more likely caused by the main ingredient or other treats. For example a lot of dogs are intolerant to chicken which is what the usual ingredient is. Or it may be wheat or any number of other things. How long have they been 'runny' and what others foods do they get? Is it only runny at certain times of the day?

It has been runny since day one really.  When we brought Luis home....it was runny...and he goes through stages of hard to runny.  But, Ollie had a bad start with a really aggressive virus.  But, it is still coming out like a match for his ears....orange and soft.

Went to the vet, and he didn't seem overly concerned....just said temperature was normal.  Just advised a change of diet.

Am really hopeful this will be ok....but, scared of underlying things...especially in view of the poor start.  We almost lost Ollie in the first week he was with us.

Is the poo every mucousy or bloody?

If you're swapping over then go for a different main ingredient. For example if you currently feed the fish JWB go for chicken or lamb AG. I'd prob choose the lamb AG anyway as its my preference. See how they go with that for 2 or 3 weeks and dont feed anything else apart from plain treats.

We were using the lamb and rice JWB....so, we have tried the chicken Arden Grange....

As the vet said it might be one of the ingredients, we tried to think about a change of main ingredient as well as brand.

I hope it works out.....little one is clearly in discomfort, and panics to get to the garden sometimes.

Hi, i changed from JWB to Arden Grange due to runny poos and found that AG is fine for my pup.  

Good solid healthy poos!

I did quite a bit of research and AG is a good brand.

there's always the possibility of rice intolerance as well

They only do chicken and rice AG in the junior which your 2 should be on untill they're 9 months.

I change mine straight to adult food at 5-6 months, I think 'junior' foods are a bit of a gimmick.

we were struggling with runny poos - Polly is now 5 months and she only had good poos in the morning - by the evening they were more like cow splats.  Anyway, our trainer recommended a spoonful of probiotic natural yogurt and runny honey on each meal.  we started this 5 days ago and its worked!!!  I got to pick up the perfect poo last night.

Ollie had soft/ruuny poos on AG. Advised by out vet to change diet.

With advice of here we picked AG - no problems with poo now (except when he picks up a half eaten chip butty on the field the lcoal kids have left  !)

I think you just have to try it and see which works best!!!

I've put my pup on AG and she is doing really well on it and has good firm poos and a really nice shiny coat (well the black bits where its easier to see are)...the breeder had her on pedigree chum complete  and tripe

Helen, I agree with you that it could be an intolerance to rice too.....as every dry food seems to contain this doesn't it?  I will see how they go on the chicken variety of Arden grange....then, get them tested if necessary.  I think the vet was suggesting that he could do this if things didn't change.  Also Ollie is having streaks of blood in his....but, when the vet took his temperature and examined him, he seemed to think there was nothing sinister going on.  Just perhaps his recent worming. 

I am gonna be delighted to be able to pick up firm poos one day.............no complaints honestly!!!!!  Just relief.

The chicken AG has rice in it too. If it could be that the your next option would be to try something like salmon and potato (wafcol do a good one as do AG)

It might just be worth getting a small bag of that anyway.....and trying it.  If it is still Arden Grange, then it is not like moving them on from one food brand to another is it?  They might quite like to have different flavours too....a bit of variety.  Thank you for that.
