In what way does you cocker fulfil your life??

Im sorry to say mine are my babies (Cocker & Cavvy) Have a nearly 17 yr old doing her own thing (but my life also) My doglets are my whole life  But they love me so so much and never fail to make me laugh...which people often don't

I don't see my dogs as small humans, I don't want children or child substitutes - it's the fact that we can live and learn together so well despite being two different species that makes the bond I have with them so special to me - but I could not love them more, I utterly adore them; I have a bond and connection with Rodaidh that I have never had with another being, human or canine, and I don't think I will ever have again. I don't know what I'd do without them and can't imagine my life without them in it. They are my pride and joys, they make me laugh, they make me learn, as Hannah says I know them and they know me and it's a privilege for me. I've met so many people through them and had so many experiences walking, training and working them; they broaden my world. As the saying goes they are not my whole life but they certainly do make my life whole and I could never be without them

That's exactly what I had with Gari, and that why I miss him so much. I'm sure that Duggie will become my best friend too, but in a different way.

They fulfil my life by offering me unconditional love no matter how much of a disaster I am being. For example When we were offroading on Friday I couldn't see my feet for the heather etc I was wading through. Sally who was by my side starts howling so I thought she had stood in something or was caught on something.....the 10 seconds it took to discover the problem was that her hippo of a mother was standing on her foot was a lifetime but as soon as I moved she was all over me kissing me for saving her despite it being me that had been hurting her  

They make me laugh on a daily basis and they never allow me to feel lonely. Sometimes when they are staring at me when we are snuggling I feel they can see deep into my soul. They have taught me to be less selfish and lazy and no matter what the weather what I really want to be doing is tramping round the countryside with them.

They have taught me a feeling of pride...when someone, anyone tells me my dogs are lovely/gorgeous/adorable my heart swells and I come over all proud owner....they also have taught me the feeling of shame however when they are not so good  

My life would just not be the same without them in it....they are not the meaning of my life but they are definitely a massive priority and I would do anything for them because I KNOW they will do all they can for me

Milly is my constant companion. With my 2 girls away in term time, and OH in the forces, my life used to be so empty. I pestered on & on about how lovely it would be to have a dog for me and eventually my dream came true. In Dec 07 we brought our tiny pup home. Milly has brought such joy. OK, I won't say she's whiter than white - She's nearly all black!  and we have had a bit of a rollercoaster of a ride, particularly as she was approaching adolescence  . But I, and my whole family love her to bits. She is certainly a very important member of our clan! 
Sprinkles, don't worry, your new puppy will fulfil your life in more ways than you could have ever dreamed possible. Enjoy!!

It really is and it's hard to explain. It's not as simple as saying that I love Rodaidh *more* than the others, they're all special but with him it's just different, it's so hard to explain!

It really is and it's hard to explain. It's not as simple as saying that I love Rodaidh *more* than the others, they're all special but with him it's just different, it's so hard to explain!

I've tried to work it out too but I can't I thought it was because he could read my mind.. but then Normy can too - she's more loyal than he was (he was a tart  ) but he could just see my soul and being apart from him for any reason (even great hols) was so hard, I missed having the other bit of me around  And still do, every day

I've never owned a dog before and (once again) getting to that nervous "what have I let myself in for???" stage!!

I know deep down this is my substitute child, especially as my human little boy goes to his dad's at weekends and I miss him terribly so it's something to fuss over (along with a whole list of other reasons!)

So, in what way does your dog contribute to your life in a positive way please!! (or you'll make my heebeegeebies even worse and i'm already the worlds worst worrier )

Think my answer is simple: every way good, Smudge & Katie make me laugh, and smile every day and give me an unexplainable warm feeling inside.

It's the pure, raw, unconditional love they give and i return.  They make me laugh, sometimes cry, but no matter what i still love them. 

My life would feel empty without them because they are such a huge part of it and nearly everything i do revolves around them.  I have met some lovely people that i would never have known without them. 

The best thing of all is no matter if you are feeling rubbish they are always ready for a big cuddle. 

My life without my dogs would be unbearable. 

BTW i am married but you would never believe it after reading this!!

I have that with a certain brown boy, it's a very special and unique bond and I know that I will have other equally special dogs, but this one is truly my little soul dog and I can't explain why

I can't explain the bond we have, but I can't imagine ever having it with another dog, which scares me a little, as I would hate to have a 'second best' dog, but can't quite imagine having the same intensity of feeling for another.  I think it is becuase I have learnt so much about me and what it is to be resoponsible for someone other than myself......

I own two and there is no doubt the bond I have with one is stronger than the other but do not worry about having a second best dog as Sally is not second best I adore her and pander to her every whim but it is just a different bond than the one I have with Glen....I am his choice of human and he is my choice of dog but I do ensure I spend plenty of time and attention with Sally and she would have no idea that Glen was my heart dog

I agree with everyone.  When the maker made cocker spaniels....his plan was very clear!!!!  Here was a dog who was gonna be faithful, loving and fun of fun.   You'll never find a better friend if you search for the rest of your life.

When I got back to my house, after losing my soul mate Lily, it felt empty.  I still had my dog Freya.......but something was missing.  One thing she taught me was that there is a thing called 'unconditional love'.  Just couldn't live without my dogs.
