Settling in the house
« on: July 27, 2009, 04:39:20 PM »
We have recently had a problem with Ollie doing a lot of barking in the house - at anything it seemed. It was suggested when i posted last time about this problem that he could stressed/anxious.

We seem to have calmed this a little bit and now he only seems to bark either for attention or when me and my OH are together after being apart with work etc and i think he might be excited when he barks at this stage as OH has just got up, he's usually just had his tea and I've got home from work all within an hour max.

We seem to have an issue now where he takes ages to settle. mainly when he's really tired he just won't settle properly until the tiredness completely takes over and he'll be zonked! So before he gets to the zonked stage he'll be moving about trying to find a spot to get comfy, looking around at every noise and barking at noise too, this could last 5 - 15 mins depending how tired he is.

Does anyone's dogs do this? I'm really concerned after someone mentioned stress/anxiety as i don't want him to feel like this in his own home. Does it sound like quite a normal thing for him to do? if its not how can i help him relax in the house - cheaply! Money is avoiding our house at the minute so a behaviourist is out the question for now!!

many thanks
