Yes, germaline should be fine

I often use a bit of TCP on my two.
At the moment both of mine have cut pads, Moss also has a deep cut on his leg, and Bella has an open wound on her chest! It's all because some plonker decided to fly tip some corrugated iron sheeting down a steep sided valley that I was then beating with the dogs on a shoot this Christmas. The snow had covered the scrap metal over so neither me or the dogs has any chance of seeing the stuff until it had done the damage
Vets don't stitch cut pads as the stitches can tear the flesh on the paw because it is impossible to keep a paw imobile for the length of time needed for it to heal. So the best thing to do is keep the cuts a clean and dry as possible, with limited exercise so as not to put any undue stress on the healing tissue.
Obviously if the cut does appear to become infected then the vets can give you some antibiotics. Don't let the vet give you any painkillers unless absolutely necessary, because a painful paw helps to keep the dog slow and steady which actually helps the paw to heal quicker!
