D&V and not eating

I am a novice dog owner and don't want to be ringing the vet with every little worry but here is today's scenario:

Freddie (15.5 weeks) ate breakfast as normal (Wainwrights) and did normal poo first thing. At 11 he had 2 lots of diarrhoea, second lot just liquid (but went through cat flap to do it in the garden bless him :luv:) then at 11.30 vomitted. He has had a little drink since then but has mostly been asleep/dozing in his bed or crate. I have just offered him a little chicken and rice for lunch but he is not interested. He does pick up things in the garden and when we are out and he got some popcorn last night when daughters dropped it on the floor. He has been a little up and down in the number 2 department since we got him at 8.5 weeks but he has been OK for the last couple of weeks. For treats he has cooked chicken pieces and in his kongs he gets either kibble, chicken and primula or live yog and mashed banana. Thinking about it he did have 2 puppy kongs with yog and banana yesterday.

I am just leaving him to be quiet in his bed at the moment. If he is drinking, will I be OK to see how he goes tomorrow and ring the vet on Monday if no change or should I ring out of hours service now? It's not really an emergency is it. Sorry to ramble on.

If he was older, then I'd say as long as he's drinking and is not lethargic, then I'd starve him for a few hours and see how he goes.

But as he's so young, I'd give the vet a quick call and let them know what he's like.  As he so little, I'd be on the over cautious side  ;)

Have rung vet, they want to see him cos he is so young. Appt at 2.50pm. Will let you know outcome.

Vet said he had high temp (39.5) but couldn't say for sure what is causing the D&V (unsurprisingly) - could be virus, something he ate whilst out on a walk or a partial obstruction (a couple of days ago he did bite a piece of a toy he got for Christmas so I put it straight in the bin but the piece he bit off probably ended up inside him). Vet not too concerned about obstruction possibility as he is passing faeces (albeit liquid ones!) but if he keeps vomiting he will have to go in for further investigation. He has had an injection for his tummy (some sort of anti-emetic I think) and some antibiotic tabs cos of high temp. When we got back from vet he had a big drink and a portion of chicken and rice which has stayed down and he is much more playful now - back to his normal self. Thanks to everyone. :D

Sorry, been really busy today. Freddie seems back to normal except he hasn't done a poo since the last liquid one yesterday around lunchtime! Just waiting to see what that will be like. He is having his medicine and tablets. Thanks for everyone's concern. :D
