Although I am still chuffed to bits, I was a bit shocked when I went to the vet.

Apparently, she is not out of the woods yet....... he said we have to stick religiously to the spoon of special diet food every few hours for quite a while yet! Although on the outside she seems fine, he reminded me that she has had major surgery and that because he had to cut into her guts (sorry to be so specific) and they have therefore been stitched, there are tiny holes where the internal stitches are which means if we give her anything more than the prescribed diet in tiny amounts, she could easily get septecemia (sp???) He has seen it happen on day 3 - 4 post operatively. So we have to continue watching her like hawks, feeding tiny amounts no matter how much she begs for more food, little and often and call him at the slightest, tiniest change! If she is sick, if she loses her appetite or if she seems "off" in any tiny way, we have to call him straight away!
Good job I slept like a log last night and thank goodness I am now on a week's holiday from school. At least I can doze in the afternoon if I don't sleep too well at night......
Keep everything crossed - I have told the kids not to give Buffy anything to eat at all, not a crust of toast or a bit of biscuit - all she can have is the prescribed food I will continue to hand feed her. She also had a shot of antibiotics and has tablets to take for the next week.
Phew, what a week!
