Terrible teen pup

Toqey is five months old and I'm sure he's hitting the terrible teens. His recall used to be amazing but, during the last two days, he's had selective deafness whenever he's wanted to play with other dogs in the park.

In one case, after lots of waving, he came back - took a treat for returning - and promptly sprinted off again for miles chasing a labrador. When I eventually got to him, the lab's owner bitched me out for not training my dog!  :o In general, he's started going a long way from me and generally being awkward.

It's not he's forgotten the commands. When I put him back on long lead, he did 'sits' and 'comes' like a robot obedience dog. I keep wondering if it is puberty-induced rebelliousness. His voice is breaking (see other thread) and he has started cushion humping (for up to an hour - I'm impressed by his stamina!)

I wondered whether anyone else had experienced 'I'm not deaf, I'm ignoring you' behaviour in a pup of this age?

[On the upside, he's started pushing the back door open when it's unlocked and he wants to go to the loo].

See!! every cloud has a silver lining - even a cockerpup cloud, all sounds  quite normal -welcome to the 'teens' :-\

Penny is nearly 10 months and can be a little **** at times. Not so much when out walking, but in the house. As you say - it's not that they've forgotten - just that they weigh up whether they want to do it or not. Her most irritating thing is if you call her in from outside, or our extension/outhouse, which is freezing. She looks at ne as if I'm a complete half wit >:D. I've stopped showing her a treat (as this probably made things worse) and eventually she will plod in, but very grudgingly.
As jennyspin says, I think it's just normal (are cockers the most stubborn dogs going? :005:)
