OK, you can all have a chuckle and say be careful what you wish for  Ph34r :005:

As some of you will know, I longed for Chloe to have more feathering and a longer coat, well my dream has been answered.....and I'm not coping  ph34r :o :005:

My main problem is all the twigs that get entwined in her feathering when she's wet, especially when she goes sniffing around the forest floor . When we get back to the car, I tend to just bung her in her fleece to dry off, and tackle the offending bits later on. She absolutely hates it though. She has never been very good with any grooming paraphernalia, she will happily let me run a zoom groom over her, but if I get any kind of comb out, she runs off.

So...a couple of questions...do you think it would be easier to get the twigs etc out whilst she's still wet? What to do you guys do?

Also, her coat has gone....err fluffy!!! Her back looks as if she's been in close contact with an electric current! Not too keen on that look...anything I can do about it? 

Oh and she's also grown a huge beard.....not at all sure about it, but all my friends say its cute!

I always find that twigs come out of dry fur easier than wet. I'll take really big bits out but usually leave the smaller stuff. Betty's quite fluffy at the minute but just along her sides and feathering - I used thinning scissors on her legs last month but haven't tackled the sides yet ph34r

The rubber band comb thing might work on her fluffy back - not on the beard though :005: :005:

I wait until Dougie and Tia are dryish before unrolling the twigs, as they really dislike it. How about a Coat King for her back and thinning scissors for her beard? (a Braun shaver would just be too macho! :005:)

Sounds like Chloe is developing the fluff that you were so jealous of on Honey!!!!  :005:

I try and get twigs out before they get too entwined as we go along a walk - Honey's quite good at a "wait" while I untangle her bum!  :005: 
Other than that, it does tend to be easier when dry....
I find a grooming spray really helps (a detangle spray)... but it does get messy very quickly if we have a couple of days where we can't give her a thorough groom...  ph34r
I'm glad I persevered though, as it doesn't matt half as easily now as it was this time last year, and what matts she does get are very loose, so not ones that cause her discomfort.   :D 

I have a furminator which I use if her back is looking a little untidy (she hates a rubber band/comb!), but normally I just use a comb to tease out any tangles and tidy her up a bit....

Thanks everyone. This is all new to me, so really appreciate your advice.  I was trying to get a bit of twig from her armpits this morning, and she growled (Chloe doesn't do growls  :D)....it was obviously sore, poor wee mite  :shades:

To be honest, I am loving the way she looks apart from this fluffy stuff .....it feels so soft and silky, but looks like....well, something like my hair when it goes fluffy  >:D If I flatten it down with water, its great  :005:

Can't give much advice as Millie gets an extreme haircut every six weeks or so  ph34r :005:. I keep her armpit hair trimmed really short as it always ends up matted.

Lola's equally is not keen on being groomed.  I had nearly the whole lot cut off and it did help with the issue of twigs/etc.  I now keep her reasonably short and all that revolting brown fluff is at a minimum and she looks like she should a black cocker not a black and brown cocker.
