Hello :0)
« on: February 28, 2010, 03:26:09 PM »
Hi my name is Bex, I'm nearly 30, Married to Martin with a 8 year old daughter Izzy and William who is 5. We got our Golden Cocker puppy George at the end of september, After we sadly lost our gorgeous old cockerxspringer Danny,We had him for 10 years (our 1st baby lol) he was 15 so a good age but we were still heartbroken when he died.
At nearly 7 months old George is definatly a handfull. We love him to bits, and he is great company as my husband works night shifts. He is great with the kids too.
We are taking him in for the dreaded chop on the 12th March, so any tips on how to get him through would be greatly received. We have had him fully checked out, the vet gave him a good going over. I have to say the one thing that annoys me about having a golden cocker is the amount of (mainly) old men who like to tell me about 'Rage' I had one old man telling me to shine a light in his eyes to see what colour they are, the vet had a good look with her torch when we got him, and said apart from a weepy eye he was fine. He is crate trained too, this is great! and as long as he has had a run we can leave him for a couple of hours.

Hear from u all soon, Bex xx  :D

Hello there and welcome!!!!!!

My name is Hannah and I have 2 kids (7yr old son Tom and 1 yr old daughter Maggie) a Weimaraner who's just turned 5 and a dark blue show type cocker Dave, who's nearly 3, oh and nearly forgot, my OH is Mark :005:

George looks wonderful, my first cocker was a golden boy (I sadly lost him when he was only 6) and absolutely brilliant in every way - he was a year old when I had my first son and I couldn't have asked for a kinder more trustworthy animal for him to grow up with. He was totally hyper but SOOOO tolerant of absolutely everything and wouldn't hurt a fly :luv: I had the same 'advice' from people as you are getting and it's a complete load of rubbish and just an excuse for people to sound authoritative on things they know nothing about - there are countless threads on here from gold cocker owners moaning about the same thing.. so have a read of those if you want to feel better ;) :D

Can't wait to see some more pics of George!

Hannah, Dave & Normy xx

Trev 2001-07 soul dog, always in my heart and dreams x

Hi Bex and George, welcome to COL. :D

I'm Maggie and I have a show type Cocker called Torin, who is 20 months old. :D

George is a beautiful boy and so was Danny. :luv: :luv:

My first Cocker was a golden boy, he was the most wonderful gentle boy with no issues at all. :luv: :luv:

Hello and welcome! Glad to have you and george join the forum. My name is Jenna and i have a golden cocker boy named Bailey, he is a year and a half old. My OH is Dilyn. Dilyn found a stray golden girl pup on saturday and we are currently trying to find her owners- if we don't find them in a week she will stay with us. So then we will have two goldens... Bailey and Saffron. (We're hoping nobody comes forward as she is such a darling) anyway, enough about my family... Just wanted to say welcome. :-)

Hi and welcome from me and mine - which includes my golden girl who is my snuggle-bum.... She doesn't like to be crowded by other dogs and will tell them off (and she has got a voice) but she certainly doesn't have rage  ;)

Amazing how many "experts" theree are out there though  ;)

Hi,
My name is Sally, I live with my OH, 10 year old daughter and Olly (a blue roan) who is almost 7 months old.  He brings a smile to our faces on a daily basis and we couldn't imagine life without him.  In three weeks time we are going to be welcoming little Alfie into our home - he's absolutely adorable, he's a black and tan with a little bit of white on his chest.  There are some photos posted of both of my boys on the puppies page so feel free to take a look.  Keep us updated on life with George and keep us updated on news about your possible new addition!!!

PS Lovely photo of George, look forward to seeing many more x

Hellllooo!

I'm relatively new here too - and have asked a billion questions already (maybe I should shut up and give others a chance!)

I'm Cora, I live on the Isle of Wight.

I lost my first cocker in November - he was my soul - I now have Harvey who is my sunshine, 11 weeks old black bundle of gorgeousness! It's funny how I seem to have forgotten everything to do with puppies since my first cocker's puppy-time 14 years ago - so I'm lapping up all the great advice here like a sponge!

I hope you get as much wonderful support as I have  :003:

Hello and welcome!
I am Julie from Athens and I am also new here, but I already feel "at home" among all those nice cocker lovers willing to help!
I will adopt a black show cocker girl on April!

I am sure you will live a happy life with your golden ;)just ignore with a big smile :shades: all these old men :lol2:
Good luck on the choice of the puppy girl!

Thanks again  :D

We got a new puppy on Monday!!!!! She is a Jack russell x Springer spaniel. Her mum was the Springer...bless her wouldn't have been very nice the other way around!  :o   I have googled and I can call her a Jack Spaniel or Springer jack, I prefer springer jack.
George loves her until its dinner time, he gets a bit nasty over food. Not so keen on sharing toys either, but he's getting better

we called her Bella x
