Looking for complete with no sugar beet?
« on: March 10, 2010, 01:20:36 PM »
Hi guys

I have now moved my boys to a half raw and half kibble diet, and they are doing well on it.

After reading many threads I have noted that sugar beet used in dog food as a filler can be a cause of skin irritations.

I am looking to change their kibble and am thinking of healthy paws after all the glowing reviews of it on here.

Does anyone know of any other complete foods that do not contain sugar beet?

Thanks Gayle, Bailey and Jura xxx

I think Robbies and Luaths from Land of Holistic pets are beet free.

Don't know if this would be any good?

Common allergens such as corn, wheat, & beet pulp have been ommitted instead using oatmeal, pearled barley, brown rice, and potatoes. All the recipes are formulated with 100% natural ingredients and contain absolutely no artificial flavors or colors

I have had Dennis on Heathly paws for over six month now and have noticed a big difference with his skin and his weight.  They are about to launch some new products soon according to their website - just got an order this week for him.

We changed Molly onto Healthy Paws recently as well. There has been a real improvement in general look of her, skin and coat looks really good and she just seems generally very content. No change in energy levels though which I had hoped might have gone down a bit  :005:

there's quite a high percentage of lean protein (26% I think in HP) so if anything she'll be as active or more active  :D

Iwas just really hoping that the Beta pet she had been on was making her hyper and the way she was had nothing to do with her natural energy levels..oh well she may calm down a bit in a few years  :005:

Thanks Barbara - when you mention weight do you mean Dennis lost weight?  I have a problem keeping weight on mine  :-\
My GR skin could be doing with improving as he licks and bites the inside of his thighs, sometimes ending up in sores.  I still have a bag of the kibble they're on now and have a friend looking out for samples of HP at Crufts for me.

Thanks for everyones help on this
