dental chews - any alternatives

we have been giving baxter dental chews for some time now but feel that he doesn't get the benefit and he tends to scoff them like sweets (in 3 seconds flat).

we have tried carrots which he takes for a few days before being fussy.

are there any other good teeth cleaning chews on the market which will be harder for him to scoff and that he'll have to chew to clean his teeeth.

We in the past and now with Charley use Marrowbones from the local butcher - huge ! so get him to cut into about 3 smaller pieces, he normally gives them to us for nothing too and they do seem to work.

bobby is exactly the same! The other day he was sick and out popped the culprit, a chew bitten in half about 3 inches long! He had made no attempt to chew it so for now until i find a better one he is having none

Raw chicken wings do a pretty good job too.

I give mine raw chicken wings, sometimes lamb ribs, pigs ears and pizzles.

I use raw chicken wings and Antos vegetable chews

Are the Antos chews the ones shaped like Hedgehogs and toothbrushes?  If so fred devour them in seconds and then often throws them back up later for a secon chewing

That's the ones. They usually last Mason quite a while but he likes to play with his chews first

I heard a rumour about Nyla bones filled with mallow but as of yet ive not found any. And i even cheaked out the Nylabone stall at crufts.

If you freeze some of the soft chews they can last a fair while and are great for the summer (assuming your dogs are doing some chewing is occuring and they not just swallowing them whole  )
