Belle has one very similar to the pyramid one, its a triangle shape but made up of 3 'ball' shapes with a hole in the top, she pushes it along and as it falls over it releases the kibble, she could never get it caught in her mouth as its too big :005: I bought it from Wilkinsons, I can't remember the make of it now though, Its out in the Garden at the Moment so I can't check it but will tommorow, think its something like 'for Pets'???????

Jan - would the pyramid one be safe to leave him with whilst I'm out?? I'm trying to look for an alternative to the kong. Is the pyramid one made of rubber or plastic? Ooh all these questions!!  :D

I'm still hailing the treat ball though!!

bajoleth - we don't have a Wilkinsons here on the Island - wonder if they're sold on tinternets?

I put his dinner in to it tonight (2 hands of puppy kibble) and he just loved it! I think I'll feed all his meals in it from now on - had it on the small hole  :D
So now Harvey under your observation as I understand, will have to "work" hard for every meal

Its this one
http://www.amazon.com/Our-Pets-Atomic-Treat-Ball/dp/B001B0TYDW
But it isn't on the Wilkos website and I can't find any uk suppliers for it-very strange cos its the same make etc and I def bought it in Wilkinsons about a year ago?
The pyramid one will work in the same way and as long as its large enough not to get stuck in his mouth I am sure it will be fine to leave him with it ;)

I like (well Max does  :005:) the busy buddy products.  He has the waggle which he throws around or just sucks the treats out the end  :005: and the twist n treat - although I found I couldn't fit bigger treats in here

Thanks for the link bajoleth *adds to list*  :D

Do kong do a ball treat dispenser? I'm happy leaving Harvey with the thick rubber of the kong as I know he can't get through it. Have had a search online, but can't find one. That thick rubber makes all the difference doesn't it (for non aggressive chewers). The only prob I have with the frozen kong is that harvey can have a little nibble, but then it has to be left until it's thawed! Not freezing means the treats/kibble come out too quickly, so it's not keeping him entirely busy (or for very long) as I leave the house.

Maybe I should get an inventors head on!

Max x 2: I got one of those, but I think the smell of the rubber puts Harvey off - he just spits it out!! It's the same with the rubber on one of his tug toys - you can see him actually turn his nose up when you give it to him, and he properly spits it out!! Some of the rubber on dogs toys really has a strong odour (has anyone noticed that? Or am I just being weird...again  :005: )

It's plastic

I think it's safer than the treat ball but more difficult , especially when there are less and less treats inside it.

I don't leave Billy alone with it but only because he pushes it behind the tv etc  ::)

You could half fill it, freeze it, then top it up with non frozen stuff, then by the time he gets to the frozen bit it should have defrosted a little.

Or how about Freeze it but let it defrost for half an hour before you give it to him?

Although at least if it's frozen he'll keep going back to it so it will keep him occupied for longer IYSWIM.

Can somebody explain to the silly Greek (this is me :shades: ) which toys do you freeze (you mean deep freeze correct?) & with what do you fill them with?
What about carrots? You also use them often I see...do you also put them into the deep freeze?
thanks!

Here you go: http://www.kongcompany.com/worlds_best.html <link to Kong website

I have 4!! 2 small ones and 2 large ones (I know that Kong do a 'puppy kong' which is blue coloured - but I've read that there have been problems with these as the rubber isn't as strong as the normal "red" kong, and puppies have been known to chew through them. I've found that the red kongs are a lot tougher)

Anyway...I take the large kong, plug the little hole at one end with peanut butter - place the kong in a mug (small hole down) and fill it with chopped carrots and hotdogs, or anything else that pup loves. Then I fill up with chicked bouilion and pop it in the freezer. Then, we I leave the house, I can give one to Harvey to keep him busy. (althought now I'll, as Jan advised, take it out the freezer (deep freeze) a bit earlier so it's not so frozen!)

With the small Kong, I fill with his kibble, smear a little peanut butter - then he's got something to play with whilst the frozen kong defrosts a bit.

LOL! Bracken loved the treat ball better than the Kong because he could never get to grips with the idea of holding it with his paws. Whereas the treat ball rolled and gave out food. However, his mouth is now big enough to have chewed the opening so the little twisty thing won't open any more! Shall have to get the next size up!

p.s. Have found on the Kong website that they do indeed do a treat dispenser like Jan's Billy's one, and it's all rubber <<<got to double check that) called the "Kong Wobbler"

*another one to add to the list!!*  :D
