I agree with livercake. Meg gets the odd marrowbone treat, antos chew (which she LOVES) and bonio treats but probably not even one a day. Alfie gets the odd 'puppy marrowbone' treat from pets at home. We dont buy that many treats in our house really and the ones we do buy arent exactly fit for a king, usually from morrisons . They also get coachies as training treats and also cheese as a more high value recall treat (for Alfie, Meg doesnt really go far enough to be recalled ). They've gotta have a break and eat cr*p sometimes id feel very deprived without mcdonalds and KFC xxxx

I totally agree with Karma and Livercake.
For recall, I vary Chloe's treats (not recommended by some, but Chloe easily gets fed up of stuff). At the moment, the highest value treat for her is fish sticks so they are kept purely for recall.
She loves livercake and tunabread too, but again, she will tire of it if I use it too often. I also use chicken, cheese and cocktail sausages, but all these are training rewards....she never gets any of them without working for them. She gets two mini sized gravy bones at bed time, and mid-afternoon, usually after a walk, she gets a tripe stick, or bit of beef jerky. (She still has to do a nice down and wait before she gets them though...I'm a cruel mummy 
If folk buy her things like jumbones (or whatever they''re called) I let her have them, but invariably she gets the runs, so I don't buy them for her myself.

Dougie and Tia love anything and everything, so get a variety of healthy treats and rubbish. As others said, it's not a lot in comparison to their food, and it isn't good to deprive them of something tasty.

They have carrots, and other veg, plus Fish 4 Dogs Sea Jerky, and the stars training treats, they also have tunabread, Antos chews, rawhides, gravy bones, mini markies and the odd bit of paddywhack. OH also gives them the last little corner of his toast in the morning, even although he said he wouldn't be starting that, but as he always have Gari his last bit, he feels guilty if Dougie and Tia don't get it!

I buy Ellie biscuits from Klassy Kanine Bakery, they are made with all human ingredients.  They have lovely names like dog-gestives, ginger mutts, flap jack russells, dogritoes, etc.  Have caught OH eating the dog-gestives at times, he says they are alright, tell him off though as they are too expensive for him!!!!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I'm not meaning I think I'm a disgrace because our dogs get cr*ppy treats - I'm just going to widen the variety a bit.  Obviously they get cheese etc. as decent treats.  I'm just not into making liver biscuits and stuff, and want something dry for my jeans pocket that I can grab on my way out the house with them.  Their regular dry food is a bit greasy in my pocket whereas Shapes and Bonios aren't.  (See it was just vanity and idleness making me ask the question.)  Fish sprats sound excellent though.

Id really recommend coachies if your looking for something small that you can shove in your pocket , ours go crazy for them! xxx

Pigs ears ? are they ok - mollie loves them and has one most days - its either one of those or a puppy chew .
She has training treats like bits of cheese or chicken but i dont really count them as '' treats '' as such .

For training, we use them little coachies bone shapes, and its what we take on walks to help with recall.

At home, Dylan's treat jar contains a selection from Pets at Home pick-n-mix. Its got the black bonio buscuits, gravey bones, choco drops, and the puppy treats that lookie like pedegree 'markies' but are tiny and are pets at home's own brand. We are a bit tight with treats, we hardly ever have to fill the jar up - we usually just forget about them as he's more toy obsessed.

He also has rawhide bones scattered all over the living room (he's even hidden some down the sofa) - and loves a bit of carrot!

At my OH's parents house, theyve got weird treats their friend gave them, as well as milk bones, and a massive rawhide bone..    And with the rawhide bones, he's never ever finished one! he just chews it, not eats it, so not too sure if we'd class it as a treat.
