Really need some advice on my cat poo eating pup

Its Douglas i am at my wits end with him , he is obsessed with eating anything he shouldnt the worst is cat poo and if he ever gets the chance dirty nappies   I can deal with him being mad for just normal food but the cat litter thing (especially now im pregnant ) is making me physically sick all the time.

Ive tried moving the litter but as hes got bigger there isnt anywhere he cant get it , i did have it under the stairs for a while but then the cats stoped using it as they wouldnt ask to go in , i now have it in the dinning room in a corner which suits the cats i even bought one with a lid and a flap but Douglas still gets in   Obviously i try to keep it as clean as i can but sometimes its just not possible and he notices before us  

He will not "leave" and "no" makes no difference whatso ever when it comes to the litter , ive tried having him on a house line which is fine when hes on but as soon as he gets off his nose is too the floor and hes off !!

Where am i going wrong ??

As anybody got any suggestions , i know this sound stupid but its starting to mean i dont want him near me as the thought of him just makes me

I had this problem with Jack, I even tried covering it in hot chilli sauce but he just seemed to enjoy it even more 

The only thing that worked for us was putting it in the bathroom upstairs where the dogs arent allowed. TBH it was one of those things that i really couldnt be bothered tackling when putting it in the bathroom was easy and caused no problems.

could you not just keep the bedroom doors shut   thats what we do. The cats litter tray is upstirs but the only room they go in up there is the bathroom. They dont live upstairs as such just go up there to use the litter tray

Unless I have soft guests who let the cat sleep in the spare room with them

I have the litter tray on the upstairs landing just outside the bathroom (under a table), and keep all bedroom doors shut (have enough cleaning to do as it is).  Dogs aren't allowed upstairs during the day and are in my room at night. 

I did have thoughts of having a box built with a magnetic key operated cat flap so only the cats could access, but never got around to it.

Mine think cat poo is a delicacy - especially Jasper who can sense it's about to be served in the litter tray before me

What about sectioning off a downstairs room using a dog gate so the cats can still get in? Millie will scoff cat poo if she finds any, I couldn't imagine training her out of that habit if we owned a cat - the reward would just be too good

Do the cats go outside at all?  If they do can you wean them off the litter tray and train them to go out- they are quite easy to toilet train normally ....

Disgusting habit, isn't it. I moved the cat's litter box into a hallway outside the bathroom and have blocked the hallway with one of those expandable (crisscross) baby gates. The cat is more or less limited to the nearby bedroom anyway as Fraser chases him if he's loose in the house, poor cat, though he does have a cat tree in the room and access to a door to the outside. Separating the dog from the litter box seems to be the key though if I forget and leave the gate open, Fraser will nip and have a nosh. Yuck!

My old cat goes outside but the two young ones are yet to be spayed so they cant at the moment.

I think my only option is to try upstairs again , but it will mean that the cats have to live upstairs they can come down for short periods but they wont cry to go up to the littler even though they are both perfect with the litter when its downstairs.

with mine we just showed them where the tray had been moved to and they both went up no problems when they needed it, they just jump the stair gate
