Why does Hamish roll and jig on the bed?
« on: April 20, 2010, 04:27:45 PM »
Hamish as you know only has 3 legs so he is unable to jump on our bed in the daytime.

At night I lift him up and he either sleeps on my feet or he will jump off and sleep in his bed.

When I get in I go up to change out of my work clothes and he asks to be put on the bed.  I do this and he then goes up to the pillow end and rolls and chunters and scratches the duvet and puts his head under the pillows and generally has a good time.

Why does he do this?  Is it to get our smell on him?

Tucker does the same thing!  He sleeps on his bed next to ours but I usually allow him up for a little snooze when the alarm goes off and I hit snooze.   ;)  He is wonderful and just curls right up and dozes off.  However, if I let him up on the bed any other time, he goes crazy.  He rubs all over the blankets and plows under the pillows and makes a great mess of everything while he pants and squeals.  He looks ridiculous but seems to be having a wonderful time.   :lol2:

Cos he can?  :lol2:

I had to put a piece of board on my bed, from the pillows down, otherwise Katie will have a fine ole game roughing up the top covers and sliding down under the duvet.  Not so clever if she is wet or muddy  :005: Good job I luvs her  ;)

another one here  ::)
When Bailey goes missing he can usually be found rolling and digging and generally having a smashing time on MY bed if the door's been left open! If you catch him it makes him go mad and he really goes for it!  :lol2:

Kali and Lyla both do it.  They run on their sides... and roll... and do the dying fly...and dive under the duvet and lick the pillows.  Don't know why but it isn't funny when you are still in the bed!

I would love to get a picture of Tucker's shame-face when he's caught!  When he's too quiet we know we can find him on my bed ransacking it and usually with one of my pillows in his mouth.  The look on his face when we walk in is priceless - though it lasts all of 3 seconds before he makes a mad dash for freedom!!   :luv:

My Cavi used to do this too! Scrabble things, stick his head in, roll over, writhe around on his back and then put his paws up over his head and pull his hair down over his eyes!!

We just called it "being silly". We could say to him "are you being silly?" and he'd stop and look at us and then do it all the more!!

I knew it would not just be Hamish!  I am going to get the video camera out tonight and try to capture it.

Hamish is camera shy though and goes funny whenever the normal camera is pointed at him  >:D I will have a go though and then try to put it on here!

Also you should see him get the post - he goes mental.  :005:
