Looking to adopt / rehome
« on: September 05, 2010, 09:32:42 AM »
Hello

I am new to the forum site but have been looking for some time to rehome a cocker.  We already have a 2.5 year old cocker and would like a companion for her.  She has been spayed and gets on well with people and other dogs.  We have some visiting children 10+ but none living with here.  We also have a good size secure garden.

If anyone knows of any cockers please get in touch, i will also be checking this forum daily from now on.

Regards

Damien

Firstly welcome to COL. You'll find lots of useful help and advice on here. Plus be warned it's very addictive.  ;) If you look on the rescue thread you will find a fair few needing loving forever homes on there. You sound like the perfect home. It might be helpful to say where abouts your from as in where about you're looking and what your looking for as in age, sex and strain Worker or Show etc. Good luck with your search.  :D

Hi and welcome.  Keep looking at the boards and good luck in your search.  Great that you're looking at a rescue/rehome.  At least Yorkshire is quite central for your search.

Hello and welcome :)

It would be worth having a look at the NESSR website

www.nessr.net

There are several cockers looking for their homes with NESSR at the moment and sadly seem to be more arriving all the time.
Heather, Buddy, Archie, Fizzy, Bruno and Amber!

Yes NESSR are brill, I was looking for an older cocker to join my 19 month old working cocker Tess and was matched with working springer Bella now 12 months. They are hard work being so close in age but match our active family perfectly, they are really good at finding the right dog for the right family  ;)

I'm not so far from you (Beverley). For definite look at Nessr - I have two Nessr babies  - Lexi and Ellie who are both lovely dogs (probably work x show we think).  Might be worth getting your homecheck done before anything else as it just helps things along if you do see a dog you like - there are quite a few lovely cockers with Nessr that are looking for home.

Good luck with your search
Misha, Ellie, Roly, Lexi (& Karen)

People who have dogs live longer - it's all the extra love

Goodness I am not far from either of you two I am at Aldbrough (south of Hornsea!) We are after another spaniel too as a mate for our blue roan show cocker Henry. We are going to see one tomorrow he is a 3 year old black and white cocker called "Hector" we want an older one as we have a guest house and I can't go through the "puppy "stage again just at the moment as we are so busy ( not that I didn;t love every minute) Saw hector just advertised in a shop window so I thought that was sad and wanted to see him.

Awww That's a real shame. You do sound the perfect home to me. Just the right one hasn't turned up yet I guess. Keep at it. He/She is out there somewhere.  ;)
If you haven't already I would definitely try Jennys link above. Good luck. Hope you find them soon.  :D

Don't give up. The search is worth the wait. It took a while for us to find our new cocker. At one point I though it was not meant to happen then along popped Tyler .

Lots of luck

Good News

Archie a 9 month old cocker arrived on Tuesday!  Will post some pics once we get him sorted.  He is having a great time with Evie our existing cocker, they are getting on great!
