Our new puppy aged 7weeks, was unnamed as we drove home in the dark on the long journey from the Scottish Borders up to the Highlands at the beginning of November last year. My daughter and I were in the back seat of the car with him curled up in his little bed between us. She was trying out lots of names for him, and none seemed to suit until she came out with 'Alfie' and it was the first name that just seemed to sit right with him. I liked it because it brought to mind the gentle little boy Alfie in the Shirley Hughes story. At that point I hadn't been aware of other 'Alfies' in our dog walking neighbourhood, until Alfie was out on his first walks and very soon met another Alfie cocker. Now I've been amazed at the number of cockers called Alfie on this site. It seems to be about 50%! How many 'Alfies' are there and what colour is yours?
