My now 16 month boy Fraser seems to have a cast iron bladder. As it's not too long ago since he was a pup and getting him outside to pee in a timely manner was paramount, I'm surprised by the change. And it's quite recent. Since the unfortunate incident when the neighbour shouted at him for barking, I've been putting him on leash first thing in the morning to go out for a pee. He pees last thing at night, usually around 11 p.m. Wake up time is between 7 and 8 (joy, he's great at sleeping in). So, first thing I put a fleece over my jammies and put him out the patio door from my bedroom that lets on on the back garden. Instead of proceeding to pee, he sits down on the little balcony part and has a look out at the garden, in no rush whatsoever. Then at my prompting, he goes down the steps and stands about in the grass at the bottom, sniffing the air and chewing meditatively on bits of grass. To hurry the process, I lead him further onto the grass and stand there in the icy cold dew in my flip flops while he sniffs the plum tree, follows a scent trail hither and thither, sometimes sits down to have a quiet moment with the morning. But no pee. Now, when he goes out at night, I tell him 'pee now' and he does so after a bit of a sniff around. But in the morning, up to 9 hours later, he could care less. In fact, this morning after both of us standing about in the cold, he turned round and went back inside. I became convinced he must be peeing in the house somewhere while I was dressing and did a suspicious tour, peering into the corners and checking the walls in case he'd cocked a leg, but I can't find anything. Once I'm dressed, I take him down to the beach for a walk and even then, he was well into the walk before he stopped for a poo and didn't pee until much later. Do others here have cockers slow to pee in the morning? Fraser drinks water, seems bouncy and healthy, but he really must have a cast iron bladder.
