Toilet Habit - Causing Embarasment
« on: October 02, 2010, 06:23:01 PM »
Hi
Hope this is the right place to post this embarrassing toilet habit.

Olli who is 2 years old, has over about the last month, developed a strange toilet habit.

Olli is cocking his leg, but instead of weeing he is doing a poo.  Its getting to be every day now, we can be on the fields for about an hour and Diesel will do his business normally  :luv: but Olli has developed a habit of waiting until hes back on the lead on the way home, cocking his leg and doing a poo   (different place all the time)

Both Diesel & Olli walk on my left, I have tried walking Olli on the right - to avoid lamposts but he goes around my back to get to the left (where hes used to) People passing in cars have even slowed down to watch and laugh :005:  :005:

Does anyone know why hes doing this  and or what I can do to stop it - break the habit.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

 :luv: :luv:

Charlie does that sometimes (thankfully not on the street  ph34r) and his pinkie comes out at the same time . No idea how you could stop it - sorry!

Hi

My 9 year old mongrel does this. No idea why. He does it against trees and lamposts...I have to pull him forward on his lead so all four feet are on the ground otherwise it can land on his back leg! Not nice, sorry can't offer any advice. Not sure if it's another way to mark their territory as Harley will wee on everything that he can.

Hope you manage to find a way to stop him doing it.

Milo often does the same. Starts by cocking his leg to wee and then decides to poo as well.   ::) Fortunately, he's rarely road-walked, so it's never bothered me!

Alfie went through a short stage of doing this...he would either scoop down & do both at once or a quick cock of the leg.  I think he was about 9/10 months at the time & tbh it didn't concern me as i put it down to 'teenage impatience' & he just wanted to hurry up & get the necessary done before back to exploring everywhere.  ;)

What a coincidence! Freddie did this for the first time today (he's 1 on 20th of this month) and I thought "How odd". Will wait and see if it becomes a habit! ph34r

Roly will do this, but it is usually when he has run out of pee and he particularly wants to mark a spot - quite rare though

Some dogs just poo like that - I think it's a form of scent spreading - he's not embarrassed so I don't see any reason why you are  :shades:

Jarvis circles furiously up to 7 times and chooses the highest point possible, which can sometimes be on top a stinging nettle or a thistle.  He will then kick with his back feet to spread his scent which usually just sends grass and clods of earth flying into the faces of any dogs and humans passing...it's just what he does  :shades:

Embarrassed, why?  But you have a cocker, you should be used to being embarrassed  :shades: :005:

Dougie does this too, usually on a molehill, but sometimes it is halfway up a tree, so funny! :005: I'm sure he could use our toilets quite easily! :lol2:

Rodaidh does this all the time, he poos up to 5 or 6 times per walk and he actually seldom has a poo that doesn't start off as a leg cock and then he turns himself so he's straddling whatever it is he was cocking on. The higher the better for him, he'll do it to get himself backed right up against trees and thistles, nettles etc. are all fair game. I don't walk him on lead but I don't find it embarrassing, the 'multi-poos' can be a pain as I can't just do one pick-up and it looks funny sometimes but it's just what he does.

Same here, my boy always poo's on 3 legs with his bum as high up against something as he can get it, a clump of grass, nettles, anything, than kicks the grass with his back legs. Don't worry about it.
