Thanks for the grats  :D

Gonna start next week for the Gold, having briefly looked at it, it is certainly more involved - both mine are now going for Gold which may cause probs, so will probably have to take them individually on different nights (Trainer holds classes in more than one venue  :shades: so that should be ok)

Well done Katie and well done you - what a great achievement.  Alot of the Gold is a bit similar to Silver just longer times mainly.  Good luck with it :D

Any tips for the out of sight stuff? Particualrly the new element of relaxed Isolation?

I cant understand why its there. Am I the only person that doesnt tend to tie their dogs up and leave them by themselves? I leave them in the car (Providing its cool out with the winder open a crack, usually just while I nip to the loo) or with another person but not like this with them tied up by themselves. Its just not safe. Im sure someone thought it was a good idea to add it ::)

Do you know where you do the relaxed isolation - Lexi's was done in a car, along with the car part of the test.  Prior to that when Roly & Misha did theirs it was in a room with a lot of other dogs all tied up.  As Roly is a howler I just had to practise tons at home really working on his stay, and once that was solid started closing the door - I even tied him up to a table to simulate the actual test - I also made sure that he was really tired before the test with a good 2hr walk beforehand.

From what I can remember from last night - they did this part outside, tied up while the owners answered the R&C questions, but there was always someone out of sight of dog/s to keep an eye on them.

Guess I will find out more in the next week or so.

Suppose if you teach doggy out of sight stays and build it up to the max expected this should help....

If there are the other handlers in the room whilest I go out and answer questions they'll b fine with that. Equally in the car. The thing i was worried about was all the trainer tying up their dogs and walking out the room. This would freak Dexter out.

I think I better find out if we have any options with regards to how this part is assessed and how our assessor is planning on doing it with us.
