Charley May Have Testicular Cancer - New Update Page Six

I took Charley to the vet this afternoon to have him checked and get a blood test for possible tooth extraction.  When I took Charley for his booster last April the vet advised against having his teeth done due to his heart murmur.  Unfortunately, his mouth smells really awful, and that can't be good for him.  

When I took him today the vet gave him a thorough examination and told me that there was a tumour on one of his testicles.  He has taken blood for testing to see if there are any underlying problems, and will 'phone me next week.  If things are OK then Charley will have his teeth done and will be castrated about a month later.

Charley will be thirteen next month and I'm worried that he may not come through the operation.  Last year he had a malignant melanoma removed from his back leg and I'm concerned if this has spread.

Hope the tumour is nothing sinister and they can remove it completely  :-*

Aww Poor Charley and Poor you - you must be really worried  :'( :'(.  Hopefully its not spread and these little cockers can be tougher than we think sometimes.  I'm sure your vet would not recomend anything that might put Charley at risk.

Awww try not to worry (famous last words) if you have seen my thread about Pebbles last month  you will know that I know how you are feeling right now. Pebbles will be 14 next month and she has had a tumor removed from inside of her ear. She got through the surgery ok, you say Charlie has a heart murmor if you are in doubt about him having surgery talk to your vet again even if it's only for reassurance. Have you tried giving him raw carrots? these are very good at keeping their teeth clean.

My westie had a GA 2 months ago to have his teeth cleaned and checked - he is almost 14, and I was worried too.  He was absolutely fine and I am sure Charlie will be too.

Lady had a major op back in July and she came thru it ok, was even bounced back to normal 24hrs later!! She was 13yrs old at the time (now 13.5yrs old)
