Lost cocker spaniel found after 2 1/2 years!
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:13:38 PM »
Hope this is the right place to put this, sorry if it isn't.

A story just came up on my Facebook page from the RSPCA's group on there.

"Lost puppy’s prodigal return after two years – thanks to her microchip!
A golden cocker spaniel has been reunited with her family – two and a half years after going missing as a puppy.
Rosie disappeared from a private garden in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, in October 2008, when she was just eight-months-old.
Her owners advertised on lampposts, in local papers and everywhere they could think of, but to no avail. Just as they had finally given up hope on seeing the family pet again, and started talking about getting another dog, the RSPCA received a call about a dog found in Bradford - 10 miles from where Rosie had last been seen.
RSPCA inspector Dave Holgate was called to the roadside on Valentine’s Day after the dog was found lying injured following a car accident.
He scanned her, discovered a microchip revealing her as Rosie and returned her to her astounded but delighted family.
“It is hard to say where she has been all this time, but apart from the accident she was in good health and seemed to have been well looked after.
Microchipping is one of the only permanent ways of identifying your pet
and greatly increases the chances of the animal being returned to you should it go missing."

  • To understand a cocker, you need to be a cocker!

Sounds like a good ad campaign for microchipping as well - 'make sure you find the love of your life this valentines - please microchip your dog'

Amazeing, it does make you wonder, about her "second home" and how she fell into there hands? She was obviously well looked after.

Incredible.

Am I the only one hoping that this really is a happy ending? I just wonder if she will be a bit like a re homed dog with issues? It could turn into a nightmare despite the initial joy of being reunited. I guess this is only in my mind because she was so young when she went missing.

I hope things do turn out well.
