Trouser biting!
« on: September 08, 2011, 09:34:34 PM »
Hi again! How do you stop puppies from biting trousers? Alfie has his mad turn after tea and whether out in the garden or in the house is growly and will not let go of the bottom of my trousers.....if he does let go he starts to go for my feet!

I have a nine week old black cocker spaniel pup called Wesley, he' s trouser biter also.  In fact any sort of clothing, whether I'm hanging it on the line or, its on the radiator!! I think it's just puppy behaviour, I tell him no and remove the clothing from him, I would also like to know if I'm doing the right thing?? ;)

They do grow out of it, Charlie used to be dreadful I used to ignore him and would walk round with him hanging on to my pyjama bottoms or dressing gown  :005:

Not always.  I have a 6 year old who still does this when she get excited running about on her walks.
I now have quite a few darned dog walking trousers!  Luckily OH's mother taught him to darn, I wouldn't have a clue how to do it!

The weather was a bit warmer when we got Darcey.  I didn't wear my bootleg jeans for ages and stuck to cropped trousers. Am still waiting to get back to wearing slippers though  :005:

Robbie used to do that loads and it got to a point where i couldnt wear certain things. He was a b***** for hanging on the end of my skirt or dress too  >:(.

I thought he would never stop as he was so dangerous with it on stairs etc.,

He is coming up 8 months and whilst he doesnt do it on a day to day basis he hasnt stopped altogether. Just out the blue he'll grab my trousers or my shoes whilst i am walking - particularly down the stairs :o

I just tell him No and generally he gets off - that comes in time though. Dont worry it soon stops.  ;)
