Crying every night

Darcey is crying every night to get into our bed. Its causing loss of sleep and we've tried everything I don't know what to do. She used to be happy in her crate but it's every night she cries and bangs. At 1 st I'd take her out but now she runs to the bedroom door. As I close it now she then jumps on the sofa and won't budge. I have to pick her up and put her in her crate. She had me up 4 times last night.

I tried that Helen anything for a good nights sleep lol didn't work she cried at the bedroom door till I let her in just to get some sleep. I don't know if moving her crate into the bedroom might be an idea.

The crate in the bedroom may be a good idea...sorry the relocation back to the living room after she was ill hasn't worked.

She's not cold is she?

Oh I know lol me and the OH are taking turns at getting up. She's got a quilt in her bed but the heatings still not on. When we've been getting up it's not cold in the living room. I'll have a think if I can move her crate or put the heating on low for a few days to see if it makes a difference.

When we had to be firm with Honey about her crate, she would try to avoid returning to it after we had let her out.  We just blocked off the alternatives and waited... So she didn't have access to the sofa etc, and I sat at the Dining table and waited until she chose to return to her crate, at which point she got a "good girl", a biscuit and we went back to bed....

I've no advice- but just glad I'm not alone!

Florence is desperate to sleep in our room. She barked me last night at 4.30am, I went down to let her outside- she ran between my legs, through the kitchen door and was curled in a ball by the side of my bed pretending to be asleep before I'd got back upstairs  :005:

That's what darcey would do if I shut the door. If she does it tonight I'll try her on the sofa again. She's wanders round if she sleeps in our bed and wakes the OH up constantly!

Well, this is what I would do... Put her in her crate and if she wakes you in the night, go down and tell her in no uncertain terms to be quiet and go back to sleep without letting her out of the crate. If you think she needs to go out, let her out with minimum interaction then back into crate if you can. Don't know how old she is, though. Freddie was waking us up at about 5am every morning until a year ago - a friend gave me the advice above. Did it 2 mornings in a row and he stopped the 5am alarm call.

That's how we do try to do it. It's OH's turn tonight and he's better at being stern than me. Will let you know how we get on.

I was under the the understanding that was wrong to do so...

But as you say(a stern talking to)Being part of the old school (i see nothing wrong in what you have done...And i have done so with most of my dogs (with no ill afect in later life)You have to show whos BOSS(and that is you)..Simples...

P.S We had the same with are gemma (on the second night)she turn the cage up side down and yap....Gave her a good talking to and she has been as good as gold ever since..Shes out the cage sleeping on her own bed she sleeps through untill one of us gets up...When i am on nights i come in at five let her out (for wee wee) give her a bonio and she goes back to bed.....No proplem....

I'm not into the whole dog whisperer cessar what's his name type thing but she's my baby and is getting a bit spoilt me thinks. So it was time to toughen up.
