Family !!!!
« on: December 25, 2011, 11:33:20 PM »
Just had an exhausting day with family over for christmas dinner and tea, and dad's border collie Bella.  The dog NEVER stops, and when i was playing ball with her I asked her to "leave it" and my sister told me in all seriousness that "she doesnt do tricks!!!!!"

This was the same sister (i only have one, who still lives with my parents) that on arrival came storming in the house leaving all the doors open on the way in, letting Taz out of the front, she didnt even have the

Sorry hit the wrong button.....

she didnt even have the decency to tell me that Taz had gone out (i was in the kitchen), it wasnt until OH came downstairs and realised both doors were open and we were 1 dog short that we realised he was out there.   Fortunately he was still just outside the house and came back in when called.

On the plus side, she didnt wear her usual perfume that gives me a migraine >:D

I'm with you. I came into the living room to find SIL telling my 4 yr old niece to "smack Archie's nose" to make him let go of her barbie. I was livid. Archie is only 4 months old but will "give" in return for a treat. SIL insisted that doing that would just teach him to steal things in order to get a reward.  >:(

Well, turn up for the books.  Dad came over on boxing day and admitted that when i am around Bella (his dog) may as well be mine as she pays no attention to them - result!!!!!!  Bella gets lots of walks and balls thrown for her, but unfortunately my dad and sister consider "training" to mean "doing tricks" - she doesnt even know what "stay" means.  I am sure if they did some mental training with her she wouldnt be as intensive.  Fortunately she is well behaved, but just very "full on".

My dad fed darcey loads of turkey on Xmas day and she can't eat poultry it makes her 'go' so all boxing day we had a dog with the runs!

OH's sister and her husband have cats and they leave bowls of food down for them all the time.  Whenever we visit Ellie makes a bee line for this food and we have to grab her quickly.  The in laws consider us 'cruel' as obviously Ellie is 'starving' otherwise she would not want the cats food.  No matter how many times we tell them she is not 'starving' but 'greedy' they will not have it.  They now keep dog biscuits in for her and if we let them they would just keep giving them to her until 'she has had enough'.  We won't let them give her more than two at a time, they think this is dreadful and find her other things to eat like carrot, cheese and bread & butter.  I am glad they don't have a dog of their own, I can't imagine how fat it would be.
