Poor Betsy  pleased that you have her home now, hope the vet can get her started on some medication to help her.  for you.

The vets xrayed Bets and she has a very enlarged heart with fluid on it and also fluid on her lungs.  The vet is going to go through everything with me later today, so I dont know just how bad things are yet.  On a positive note she can come home this evening.     Thank you for all your thoughts.

So sorry to hear she so unwell at the moment & really hope the vets can give you some idea of what the problem might be - must be such a worry for you hun     

( I'm sure the vets have covered it but Purdey presented the same symptoms with severe Lungworm ...enlarged heart + fluid on the lungs etc - she was misdiognosed for some time as her symptoms were not 'typical' & thought I'd mention it just in case  )

Well Betsy is home and she is so much brighter.  The vet seems to think it is likely to be valvular heart disease.  He didn't mention lungworm possibly because he could hear a heart murmur.  I imagine that you wouldn't hear that with lungworm?  I am back on Tuesday to see how she is doing so I will ask them about it then, just to be on the safe side. 

Anyway at the moment she has lots of tablets to take which will be for the rest of her life.  Hopefully it will be a long one.
