Well, what a chaotic day for us and Miss Jemima. Saw our vet Stewart this morning and his feeling was that it was a spinal problem, possibly a disc problem or a tumour which had suddenly burst sending it's contents through her spinal chord. He was also not ruling out meningitis still. He felt that the only way to give a proper diagnosis was to arrange a MRI scan. He referred us straight away there and then to a wonderful vet in Derby who is a specialist in this type of surgery. He did a barrage of tests on where she could feel pain and where she couldn't. He graded the response as a 3 on his scale and said that in the case of a 3, with the right diagnosis and treatment that there was a 90% chance (with a lot of after care work from me), that Jemima would recover back to normal. We left her there and he told us she will probably be there for 2-3 days, surgery or no surgery being required. He rang me this afternoon to say that the X-ray and MRI had been carried out and that it was a ruptured disc that had spilled it's contents around her spine which is why she had gone downhill so quickly. She is being operated on at the moment and he will be calling me later. I know that I have a lot of hard work in front of me but, to us, Jemima is so worth it. If he had told me that she would be a paraplegic for the rest of her life then we wouldn't put her through the op but with odds of 90% normality we have to give her a chance.

Thanks so much for everyone who has messaged me. I told her this morning how many messages she had had and she still managed to wag her tail at me! Promise to update later  :luv:

I am a little teary eyed thinking about your poor baby :luv:

Everything crossed and lots of positive healing thoughts being sent (mine will get to her quicker because I live in Derby!) to Jemima for a successful operation and quick recovery.

Sending you big  :bigarmhug:

So sorry to hear that Jemima :luv: is so poorly

It must be so hard for you right now. Cocker hugs for all of you from Bingley and Darcey. If I were offered odds on a full recovery I'd choose 90%. sounds promising. Xxx

Hoping all will come right in the end, and sending Jemima best wishes for a speedy recovery. She sounds like a little fighter to me - it's great that her spirits are not flagging - keep that tail wagging, Jemima!  :luv:
