Your not kidding there Sheryl. Had a bit of a melt down earlier n Phil came in from work to find me kneeling in front of the settee, head in a cushion bawling my eyes out! Not eaten a proper meal since she's been ill as she's the priority. Jenny (Jaspersmum) will be giving me a severe telling off when she see me!  :D

Jenny, this is Liz, amaranth cockers, did you know our Spice did the same thing last October, I know what you are going through. Be patient you will get their in the end, and do not be afraid to ask the vet to see your dog if you think she needs more pain killers. Our Spice only came off them a few weeks ago. We do not know if we will ever show her again, her back is still hunched up when she moves, but she is home and alive, and that is all that counts. All my love and best wishes.

Hiya, I didn't realise that that it was Spice had done. If you are going to Cheshire cocker show with your gorgeous black veteran boy we'll have a natter. All being well I'll get a Jemima sitter for that day! xx

Your no good to any of 'em iff you don't look after yourself - get yourself a proper nights sleep and some decent food in ya woman!

I'm pleased to say our first group of Diploma students have passed their courses and are fully qualified massage therapists, the second set have just taken their assessment and await accreditation.. that should mean more therapists coming soon around the country who can help too  ;)

She's now standing for longer and longer on our "aerobics" sessions. Her back legs are also moving when she has her "mad five" around the garden. Obviously, the towel is still supporting her but it's good to see her legs moving. Didn't think we would ever get to this stage. Sooooo proud of her. It's so good to see her tail continually wagging.  She's back for her update with Andrew at Derby vets on Tuesday so hoping for some more ideas on her rehabilitation then :luv:

We've just returned home from our follow up appointment in Derby with Andrew who did the op. Well, she decided that she was going to walk in with the aid of the towel...and Phil (who had just come off a night shift and insisted on coming with us even though he probably looking in worse condition than Jem! :005: ). The nurses on reception couldn't believe her waging tail and how well she was walking. She had a good walk around the waiting area until Andrew called us in. He says that she is totally at the correct stage for three weeks post op. He had her walking around the room without the towel and also checked her foot placing on his table when he kept moving them around. He says that she is placing her left foot completely correctly but is just knuckling her right side a bit still. This is normal considering that the disc was worse on her right side and most of the debris was on the right side. He said that she doesn't need any medication at all, not even the Rimadyl which I thought she might be on for the rest of her life. He doesn't want to see her again unless there are any problems. We have booked in to see the physio next week as she was away today and I'm hoping for some more ideas on exercises for her. He says that the little walks are just what she needs and will play some part in her rehalilitation, as will time. I told him that he is a miracle worker and he said that it's nature that plays its part, not just him! For Sheryl and the others, the flaky skin is fine, as is the swelling on the op site, as is the "drunken" swaying! He says that the swaying will improve but again it's just time and waiting for nature. She was trying to jump on my knee while we were there! She' a determied little madam! Really pleased but still got to be careful of the slight risk of another disc going. Absolutely shattered, mentally and physically but getting there now. Thank you to everyone who is thinking about her, friends on here and my friends in the "show world"  :luv:
