James Wellbeloved - cheapest suppliers?
« on: January 23, 2012, 01:43:07 PM »
I ran out of Odie's usual food and got some JWB from PAH as it was on offer.  He's been on it for nearly 3 weeks with no ill effects but of course, it's not cheap (I've been used to feeding him a working dog food at under £10 for 15kg!).

Which suppliers are the cheapest for this food?  I've found Pet Supermarket which currently has the lamb and rice one at £34.99 which is really cheap.  Are there any others out there?  Cheers, Lesley

Can I just ask why you are considering switching to JWB if it's more expensive that your regular food Lesley?

Odie's been on Dr John's Silver working dog food for over a year now.  His coat condition is fab but he's been losing interest in it for a few weeks now (I've tried various things to jazz it up).  I felt it was time for a change and as Odie isn't a worker (and isn't a mega busy dog), I wanted to try something lots of people have recommended and is more suitable for him and his lifestyle.  It was on offer at PAH so decided on JWB.  After a recent bad episode of scratching after trying some salmon oil, I liked the idea of the hypoallergenic aspect of JWB.

Willow used to be on JWB and most of the time there were offers on PAH we found that the big bags were not on offer then the small bags would be and vice versa. We never paid full price for a bag from there. Check the offer on the web site and stock up until another offer is on again  ;)

I love JWB food and treats.
Shame Millie isn't so convinced.. Jennie would eat anything, but because of Millie's 'fussiness' they are on Wagg (ok not great) as she won't eat anything else  :-\ well she wouldn't before being spayed ... maybe I should try her again, but hubby says why change when she's happy on Wagg and is doing fine on it :-\

Have just done the same with Erin..was on Dr Johns for a long while but was so unimpressed and also getting fat into the process (maybe because she not a working cocker it was to high in calorie).Have just changed her over to Arden Grange Light which she seems to be loving ...just hope it helps her lose a few pounds. A lot more expensive but hunting down the deals  :005:

Have you looked at CSJ? Roxy is  working strain and has been on it for about a year or so now and she does really well on it. She doesn't work either. It costs me £30 for 2x15kg bags including delivery. She is on Hi Lost. I would recommend it

We tend to buy the 2.5kg bags (use less cupboard space  :lol2:) either from PAH when they are 3 for 2 or from our local independent where they are £6.99 a bag. Can't remember how much the bigger bags are though!

Odie was on CSJ from 5 months old until I changed him at around 13 months old because his poo wasn't completely formed and he was going 5-6 times a day.  It was good value and I have recently looked at "That'll Do" but I'm worried his poo will be affected in the same way :-\

Roxy's poo is absolutely fine on the CSJ but every dog is different- why not ask them for a sample of Hi Lost - they are really good with samples as you probably know

It usually takes a few weeks feeding new food to gauge Odie's reaction in the poo department  :shades: so samples aren't really suitable.  However, I'm on my 2nd bag of 2kg JWB and so far so good so I'm going to order that JWB Lamb & Rice on offer at Pet Supermarket for £34.99 and keep an eye on him for the next few months.  Thanks for your help everyone ;)
