Might be a daft question.....
« on: January 31, 2012, 07:15:41 PM »
This might be a daft question but Willow is 8 days into her season and seems to have gained weight over just the last few weeks. I didnt know whether this is usual with a season?? We have changed her food 3 weeks ago and obviously she isnt having any off lead exercise at the min apart from in the garden which isnt the same in the way of the calories she is burning.....

I might be feeding her too much of the new food....  :-\

Not too sure about females in season but I'm sure she will burn off any excess weight she might have when she can get back to normal exercise.  These pups are a worry aren't they

She started filling out december time and when we weighed her as we changed her food she had gained about 1kg. She had been a steady 10kg prior to that apart from the bouts of colitis. That was 3 weeks ago when we weighed her but she has filled out more since then. Even OH has noticed and he doesnt noticed anything usually  :005: :005: She isnt massive or anything but getting heavier by the feel and look of it....  :-\ Just not sure whether its related to the season?

Adult fuss pot barking heads. As i was mixing that and the old food was still measuring to what the RC suggested and in fact had to feed more of that, think we might be over feeding her, she always seems hungry....

Darcey is on about 120g but is still changing over from Adana and it's mixed with that. I didn't think 120g was lot  Bingley is on 180g of puppy food. The guidelines are so broad for BH  >:(

Yes Jessie has barking heads.  I would definately cut it down.   jessie is spayed so I watch her weight.   I found I kept adjusting the amount to one that suited Jessie.

Oh blimey, im deffo over feeding her then. Think the fact that she hasnt had any off lead exercise where she is like a rocket chasing the ball hasnt helped. We will get Willow spayed after this season. There seems to be more goodness in the BH food too so assuming thats why they are fed less.

Ruby just picked at her food during her first season, but since she was spayed we are watching her weight. She could now "eat for Britain"  :005: :005:

The Barking Heads guidelines do seem to be very board.  We've been using Barking Heads for at least a year and Darwin likes Fusspot the best.  And the guideline is between 100g to 200g.  I try and feed 150g a day split between two meals, yet OH tends to generous in measuring.  Darwin hasn't put any weight  on since he was 9months and he's nearly 3yr.
