Hi everyone

newbie alert. So I have been lurking for a few weeks and decided to join as some great tips and help on here.
About me, I am a stay at home Mum, 2 rescue rabbits, son & husband....and now a 6 month old working cocker called Bailey.
Bailey's story: ex sister in law told me she might get a dog, this was one of many hair brain ideas of hers (along with leaving my brother for no apparent reason!). Having watched her give 2 cats into rescue because she had no time for them just over a year and a half ago, I tried desperately to talk her out of it knowing how it would end. I thought I had succeeded, only to get a call 3 weeks later telling me how she had this really cute 8 week old cocker puppy. Fast forward 4 months to December, she's on the phone asking me if I know of any rescues that might take him

. So I managed not to lose my temper and said being as it was Christmas rescues have a really bad time of it and she would probably struggle to get him in. I spoke to my hubby, we had been thinking of rescuing a dog for a while so this seemed like fate. We arranged a trial for 3 days over Christmas, to be warned the day before that he was untrainable, hideous, crazy, nightmare and that we wouldn't want to keep him!
Anyway, he has stayed and we have fallen head over heels in love with him, he is not untrainable and had him sitting and waiting while we went thought the baby gate on the first day (he has run of kitchen and utility at bed time and when my 3 year old is playing or they are unattended). We kept waiting for this uncontrollable hound to erupt, nothing! Amazing what walking, rules and training can do eh?!
So chuffed he is here and having a wonderful time teaching him. Walking him has been a challenge as we now realise she wasn't walking him and she couldn't believe I was taking him out with the pushchair sometimes.
So that's me, sorry for the essay! Look forward to 'meeting' you all.
Claire
