Can Poppy spread human illnesses?
« on: February 04, 2012, 03:21:24 PM »
Might be a stupid question! ph34r

Poppy goes to a dog sitter a couple of days a week. They currently have shingles in their house. OH picks her up in the evening. Is there any chance of her bringing shingles home with her?
Poppy is now one! Watch her first year!

As far as I'm aware Shingles is not a disease that can be spread from humans to animal so I won't think you need worry.

I agree with bluegirl, I am sure you don't need to worry about Poppy carrying anything.

And you can only get shingles if you've already had chickenpox.  But you can catch chickenpox from someone with shingles.

It is not a silly question at all.

I asked my vet the same thing when my mother in law was suffering from shingles.  He told me not to worry, it was not transferable to an animal.  :luv:
