Hi Paddysmum. What age is Paddy? I'd be wary of using chemicals on a very young puppy unless there is a good chance of him picking up fleas, ticks etc. i'd speak to your vet for advice.

I agree with this post, although some treatments can be given to dogs younger than 12 weeks.  Does Paddy actually have fleas now?  If you part his coat with a comb, and look at his skin, have a look for tiny pieces of what look like dirt which could indicate a flea problem.  Also, is he scratching at all, can you see anything that looks like a flea?  If you are not sure, have a word with your vet.

Itching can be a symptom of fleas and in such a crowded environment it's more than likely.  I really would take him to the vet if I were you, sounds like he could do with a check up.  If he has got fleas, you will need to treat all your furnishings as well.  I'm sorry you've had such an irresponsible experience with the lady you bought Paddy from.

Have you taken your puppy to get his first checkup at the vets? The person you bought your puppy from sounds a little suspect :-\

If he has got fleas he'll probably be uncomfortable and they'll be irritating him. If you ring the vet you can ask their advice over the phone.

Apart from irritating your pup, if he has got fleas and you leave it you run the risk of getting fleas in his bed/your carpets/furnishings which will make it more difficult to get rid of

I probably would take him for a checkup now, I always have done when I first brought a puppy home just to make sure there are no issues. My last cocker had fleas when i got him and came from what i suspect now was a puppy farm, there are too many bad breeder out there, unfortunately. I don't think it will be hurting him but it will be uncomfortable :luv:

He will scratch himself sore, so it's best you take action now, if you can.

Edit:
glad you're taking him to the vet tomorrow.  Let us know how he gets on, bless him  :luv:

Let us know how you get on! It's a good idea to take them when you brig them home just so they can have a check over

Once you've been to the vet a had your mind put at ease make sure you post some pictures of little paddy  ;)
